Every time we would check, a parent would be in the nest so we couldn't see if the eggs had hatched. Manager Nora was getting concerned knowing little birds usually have a gestation of only 10-14 days. Thought she heard something yesterday but, again, mom or dad was in the nest, blocking the view BUT REST ASSURED, today we have confirmation of baby Carolina Wrens!! Due to their size, in comparison to the tiny eggs, it appears they have been shell-free for at least a number of days. Woohoo!!! πŸ€—β€οΈ

Thanks to the annual Ocean City, Maryland Air Show ✈️, we have been listening to fly overs all day. Also got to see this very large plane but still not fast enough to get a live picture/video even though it's the slowest plane participating. 🀦 What a great way to celebrate Flag Day during the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America, and the birthday that both Volunteer Steve's and Manager Nora's Grandmas now share in Heaven!

It's that time of year again where we should all be vigilant of our water and electrolyte intake, listen to our bodies when they say it's time to rest if working in extreme heat, and the same goes for all of our furry friends. Please make sure they have access to shade and are well hydrated. Stay safe, Friends! πŸ₯°

To honor Billy Beebe (prior owner of Bill Goat), we are celebrating Drizzle Schnizzle's (Manager Nora's nickname for her 🀣) 10th birthday today! She is a Misty descendant via Stormy and you can visit her at the Beebe Ranch, along with her Mama Angel and Miss Pearl. Happy Happy Birthday, Drizzle!!! πŸ₯°β€οΈπŸ΄πŸ€—

What did you do over the H-O-T weekend? πŸ€” It was definitely another productive few days for us! Picked up a load of 73 bales of last year's hay at a discount (Yay for our hay provider! πŸ€—) on Saturday, had a scrap metal run on Sunday morning/afternoon, and as the sun began to set, headed back for more hay on Sunday evening, this time getting 75 fresh square bales. We are extremely grateful to have been able to replenish our hay fund due to all the metal donations over the past several months. Y'all rock!!! πŸ‘πŸ˜€πŸ’•

*Pics of some of the scrap. As you can see, we were also given many items we can use around the farm like assorted gates, cattle panels, t-posts, and even a 100 gallon water trough! What you don't see is all the small metal, food cans, etc. packed inside the large appliances. Volunteer Steve is definitely our scrap metal guru and we love him for it! 😁

Sometimes the simplest of hacks can make life easier. Since we brought Davy home in 2020, this little fish net has been cleaning debris out of water troughs. Many times the water will get dirty from horses taking a drink with a mouth full of hay or feed, or when they decide that the side of the trough would be a great place to relieve an itchy spot, shedding into the water. 🀦 So in between regular scrubs, this is a great way to help keep the water clear for our residents! 😁

This birthday boy says, "Sharing is caring!" πŸ€— Apollo Houdini has been with us for for a little over a month and a half and what a transformation with his winter shed out, now he really resembles his Papa Chief! He is a good boy who loves to hassle Uncle Beacon over the fence (just like Will). 🀣 Happy 5 years alive, beautiful boy!!! πŸ΄πŸ’›

The daily chores, etc. continue to be completed solely by Volunteer Steve & Manager Nora, who also work away from the farm to sustain our cost-free program, and it would be really great if we could get some help. Can you spare a few hours 1 day a week, bi-weekly, once a month? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! We are located right off Route 13 on Horntown Road in New Church, so if you take the highway from the south to get to Walmart, you pass right by us! Notables: You will get dirty, you will probably sweat (even if only doing light work), and there are annoying bugs everywhere BUT you will be a part of a wonderful community resource for mental health! πŸ€—

If interested in helping our 501(c)(3) non-profit therapy farm run solely on volunteers and donations, please text/call 717-329-0706 at any time. Monetary donations are always needed too. Thank you very much for your consideration!! πŸ₯°

When preparing to feed the residents, we found a special little family amongst the bread trays! We removed everything except the product helping to stabilize their temporary home and added boxes above for extra protection. Not sure yet what type of bird but will hopefully be seeing some little ones very soon. We tried to use the Merlin app to identify the pic but it wouldn't register so if you know, please comment below. 😊 Thankfully our presence has not scared the parents away, and Mom and/or Dad is/are doing a great job sitting in the nest. The eggs are so cute and tiny!!!! πŸ₯°
