Melanie and Stella were honored during our weekly Rotary luncheon, where members had the opportunity to celebrate their recognition.

Recognizing local students is one of our favorite Rotary traditions! We love having the opportunity to celebrate young people in our community and acknowledge their hard work, character, and accomplishments.

Congratulations, Melanie and Stella! We are proud to recognize you both and wish you continued success! 💛

This week, one of our own Rotary members, Elisabeth Gelhar, took us across the pond! 🇬🇧 🇮🇪

Elisabeth shared photos, videos, and stories from an educational tour of England, Ireland, and Wales that her daughters and Girl Scout Troop 21268 experienced this past summer.

Getting there took a lot of work long before the girls packed their bags. Elisabeth shared how the troop raised funds through Fall Product sales, Girl Scout Cookie season, additional troop fundraisers, and individual fundraising efforts. Together, the girls worked to raise more than $25,000 in two years with an important goal: making the opportunity available to every girl in the troop who wanted to go, regardless of her family's financial situation.

Elisabeth also gave a special shoutout to the troop’s main leaders for the time and work they have put into creating such a great troop for the girls to be part of.

And there was a thank you for our Rotary members, too! 💙 Many of our members supported these girls along the way by purchasing cookies, making donations, and supporting their fundraising efforts. It was pretty special to see the experiences that support helped make possible.

Thank you, Elisabeth, for sharing the girls’ adventure with us, and congratulations to Troop 21268 on turning a very big fundraising goal into an unforgettable educational experience! 👏

A big thank you to Jeannie Seery for joining us at a recent New Carlisle Rotary meeting! 🌱

Jeannie is the Founder of The Seery Collective and serves as the 2026 Director of the Ohio SHRM State Council. With more than 16 years of experience in human resources and organizational development, she shared an important message about keeping people at the center of leadership, especially as artificial intelligence becomes a bigger part of how we work.

Using a garden as an analogy, Jeannie reminded us that just like flowers, people don’t all grow in the same way. Each person brings different strengths, backgrounds, experiences, needs, and potential. Creating an environment where people feel valued, supported, and included starts with recognizing those differences.

She also talked about using AI as a tool, not a replacement for the human side of our work. AI can help with busy work, identify patterns, and create efficiencies.

What it can’t replace are empathy, trust, meaningful conversations, recognition, and authentic relationships. One of our favorite takeaways: Use AI to create more time for connection, not less. 💙

A big thank you to Northwestern Local Schools FFA for joining us at a recent Rotary meeting and sharing more about their program! 🌱👏

We were joined by AG ED Lahela Snyder and three Northwestern seniors and FFA officers: President Bayleigh, Vice President Katie Brett, and Treasurer Isaac Smith.

The students shared some of the many opportunities available through FFA, including work-based learning, Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects, Career Development Events (CDEs), leadership conferences, competitions, and hands-on learning. They also shared that their program works with 40 local businesses to provide work-based learning opportunities for students.

We also learned more about some of their own experiences. Bayleigh shows goats and pigs, has a job, plays golf, and runs track. Katie shows dairy feeders, works and plays varsity soccer. Isaac works at the Springfield Country Club, participates in baseball, varsity cross country, and marching band, and enters his photography at the fair.

We also learned about the Northwestern Tater Hut at the Clark County Fair, a longtime tradition run by students, parents, and volunteers. Profits help fund senior scholarships, field trips, and other FFA events. 🥔

Paul Harris: A Vision That Continues to Inspire

A reminder of the special work that Rotarians around the world do every day to bring people together, build understanding, and promote peace.

Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary, believed that people from different backgrounds could come together through friendship and fellowship to make a positive difference in the world. What began with a small gathering of four friends in Chicago in 1905 has grown into a global organization of people committed to Service Above Self.

Today, Rotarians continue to carry Paul Harris’s vision forward in communities around the world. Through service projects, humanitarian efforts, youth programs, international partnerships, and countless acts of kindness, Rotary members work every day to create stronger communities and a more peaceful world.

Peace isn't created only through major international agreements or diplomatic efforts. It is also built through the relationships we develop, the understanding we foster, and the service we provide to others.

Every time a Rotarian reaches across a community, works alongside someone from another culture, helps a family in need, supports a young person, or brings people together around a common cause, we are helping build a more peaceful world.

Paul Harris started Rotary with a simple idea: that fellowship and service could bring people together and ultimately help make the world a better place. More than a century later, that vision remains at the heart of Rotary.

Together, through Service Above Self, we can continue to make a difference—one community, one friendship, and one act of service at a time.

We were proud to recognize two outstanding Tecumseh Local Schools students at our recent Rotary meeting! 🎓👏

Congratulations to Chloe Cornett, our Student of the Month! Chloe is a junior involved in SADD, where she serves as a secretary, varsity volleyball, club volleyball, and volunteering with Tecumseh Strong events. She also spent part of her summer helping with the summer lunch program. After high school, Chloe plans to attend college and is considering interior design or sports marketing.

We also celebrated Edward Michek, our Citizen of the Month! Ed is a junior and Senior Master Sergeant in Tecumseh’s AFJROTC program, where he helps coordinate color guards for football games and other events. He is also involved in bowling, academic team, Kitty Hawk, and other AFJROTC activities. After graduation, he plans to attend Texas A&M University, join the Corps of Cadets, and pursue a degree in criminal justice.

Congratulations, Chloe and Ed! We enjoyed learning more about each of you and are proud to recognize the many ways you are involved at Tecumseh High School and in our community. 💙

A big thank you to Terry Pope from the Rotary Club of Urbana, Ohio and Assistant Governor Joe Curran for joining us at our recent meeting! 💙

Terry, who also serves as Rotary District 6670 Membership Chair, shared how the Urbana Rotary Club took a more intentional approach to membership growth and engagement. Beginning in 2024, the club formed a Membership and Engagement Committee, evaluated its strengths and weaknesses, and set a goal of bringing in new members.

One of their strategies was creating “Discover Urbana Rotary” events and personally inviting community and business leaders who members believed would be a good fit for Rotary. Their efforts helped grow the club from 34 members, with 25 active, to 47 members, with 39 actively involved.

Terry also discussed the importance of keeping new members engaged and how Urbana’s growth has helped spread the workload, strengthen existing service projects, and allow the club to consider new opportunities. She also shared some of the ideas they are exploring next, including a companion club that could provide another meeting option for people unable to attend their traditional Monday meetings.

Thank you, Terry and Joe, for spending time with us and sharing what has worked for Urbana Rotary. We appreciate the ideas and conversation about how Rotary clubs can continue to grow and serve their communities! 👏

💙 Member Spotlight: Brian Macy! Brian has been a dedicated member of the New Carlisle Rotary Club since 2005, bringing more than 20 years of service and involvement to our club and community.

Over the years, Brian has served as Club President and continues to take on several important roles. He currently serves as our Sergeant-at-Arms and as one of our Avenue Directors. He also leads our annual Christmas program and plays a huge role in helping make the Stronger Together event a success each year.

Beyond the titles, Brian is simply someone we can count on. His presence at our meetings, willingness to step up, and continued commitment to Rotary are greatly appreciated.

Thank you, Brian, for everything you do for our club and our community. We are grateful to have you as part of New Carlisle Rotary! 👏
