New Carlisle Area Community Chorus

It is with great sadness we share the passing of our president, dedicated member, and long time bass singer of the Chorus. Rich has left a permanent impact on our organization and will be missed for his jokes, sly smile, great bass voice, leadership and the friendship he extended to everyone he met.

From our director: Rich has been our president since I took over in 2012. I have worked with him to build the chorus, negotiate covid, rebuild afterward, and together we have performed over 100 concerts together and an incalculable number of caroling dates at the Golden Lamb. He has been a steady constant and I can’t imagine rehearsals without that well timed joke! He was a great friend and supporter to me and will be truly missed.

Until we meet again to join the eternal choir!

***CANCELLATION NOTICE***

Due to today's upcoming weather forecast, both the Chorus and the Brethren Church feel it best to cancel today's concert that was scheduled for 3:00pm.

We are unable to reschedule the event for this year, but will plan to have an event in the spring/early summer where we can both celebrate the 40th anniversary of the chorus and honor our founder and first director Mr. Bill Berry.

Please come Monday night to the High School and see the Chorus and the Tecumseh High School Choirs in concert at 7:00pm. It will be a great night of music!

It is with profound sadness that we share that the founder of the Community Chorus has passed away. Bill Berry was a selfless servant and true embodiment of Christian giving. His love for learning, teaching, music, and community were unmatched. All who knew him loved him and received his support!

When I came to direct the Chorus I was new to leading such a large musical endeavor. Thanks to Jim Gastineau, he set up a meeting where Bill presented me with a 4-page letter he had written outlining his thoughts on how I could be an effective director and leader. He then spent the next couple hours pouring into me and continued that support for the past 12 years. He came to many performances and always took the time to share a supportive moment and encouraging word. His zeal to see our community and its people bettered will be missed.

This year we celebrate our 40th year of music making and it all traces back to the vision and belief that Bill had to provide a recreational outlet for participants who enjoy singing socially and to provide an experience in producing good choral music, which will educate and inspire the participants and likewise bring culture, refinement, entertainment, and social enhancement to all who hear.

Bill, we will continue to sing and carry the torch. Until we meet again!
