This Friday, October 9th, the Connecticut Breast Health Initiative will announce the recipients of its 2026 Breast Cancer Research Grant Awards at Smarty Party 3.

The evening also features a panel of the state's leading breast cancer experts, who will discuss the questions that continue to drive the research:

Christina Metcalf, MD, Trinity Health of New England Medical Group
Eric P. Winer, MD, Yale Cancer Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital
Richard Zelkowitz, MD, St. Vincent's Medical Center, Hartford Healthcare
Moderated by Lisa Carberg, Yale Cancer Center

Connecticut has the second highest rate of female breast cancer in the United States, and it is one of five states with the highest early-onset incidence. Since 2005, CT BHI has awarded 126 grants totaling $5.2 million to researchers across the state, and every dollar raised stays in Connecticut.

The evening will also recognize this year's Awards of Distinction honorees. We invite you to join us.

Every year, for at least 8, Standard Oil in Bridgeport has supported breast cancer messages on WTNH 8 during the month of October and encouraging support for CT BHI.

They also send this truck to our RACE’s TOUCH a TRUCK!

The Connecticut Breast Health Initiative is proud to be this year's beneficiary of The LOOK Fashion Event, produced by Tina Kiniry. Set against the striking backdrop of the New England Air Museum, this year's show brings together 15 runway presentations from local independent designers, along with an Inclusive Fashion Spotlight featuring an Adaptive Fashion Segment celebrating designs made for all bodies.

One highlight of the evening: Crunchy Diva, a brand founded by a breast cancer survivor, will present a special collection modeled by fellow survivors alongside local models.

The evening also includes top modeling agencies scouting new talent, industry panel discussions, hors d'oeuvres, and a cash bar, bringing together designers, models, agents, and creatives from across the region. A portion of every ticket sold supports breast health research here in Connecticut.

The LOOK Fashion Event comes to the New England Air Museum on October 11th, a runway show featuring breast cancer survivors, adaptive fashion, and independent Connecticut designers, with proceeds supporting breast cancer research through CT Breast Health Initiative.

Co-hosted by Debbie Allen Wright and produced by West Hartford's Tina Kiniry, the night also brings scouts from Wilhelmina, One, and State Management alongside TK Management, looking for new faces to sign. Thank you to Tina Kiniry Management and Tina M. Kiniry for hosting and choosing CT Breast Health Initiative as this year's beneficiary.
