💗 Last Friday, CFGNB was proud to sponsor and attend Smarty Party 3 with the Connecticut Breast Health Initiative in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

We believe strong communities are built through partnerships and supporting organizations that make a difference in people’s lives. It was wonderful to celebrate the work being done to advance breast cancer research, hear from leading experts, and connect with fellow community partners, including our friends at OIC of New Britain.

Thank you to the CT BHI team for bringing everyone together for such a meaningful evening. We’re grateful to support this important work! 🎀

You can’t tell the story of New Britain without telling the story of its Polish community.

Generations of Polish immigrants came to the Hardware City in search of opportunity and helped shape the community we know today. They worked in its factories, opened businesses, built churches and schools, created organizations, and established a community around Broad Street that grew into today’s Little Poland.

More than a century later, that influence is still very much a part of the city.

During Polish American Heritage Month, we celebrate the generations of Polish Americans who have contributed so much to New Britain and those who continue to carry its traditions forward today.

From Little Poland to families throughout the city, Polish heritage remains an important part of what makes New Britain, New Britain.

Niech żyje polskie dziedzictwo!

Yesterday was such an amazing reminder of the power of women coming together! 💜✨ We had the opportunity to attend the Southington’s Chamber of Commerce’s Business Women’s Leadership Network luncheon, and it was so empowering to be in a room filled with so many incredible women, all bringing their own experiences, perspectives, and passions to the table!

We had the pleasure of hearing from Dr. Camelia Lawrence, whose message about owning your journey, prioritizing your health, and using your seat at the table to make room for others was truly inspiring. Her story was a powerful reminder that leadership is about more than personal success. It’s about lifting others up along the way.

This is what community looks like. Women supporting women, sharing knowledge, building connections, and creating space for one another to grow. We left feeling inspired, encouraged, and grateful to be part of a community that continues to show up for each other.

🌱 A beautiful day celebrating community, food access, and the people growing a stronger New Britain!

Lauren Knapp, CFGNB’s Office Manager & Scholarship Associate attended the 8th Annual Garden Crawl at CCARC with her cousin, Erin Knapp. The event brought the community together to explore local, community, and school gardens while supporting the important work of New Britain ROOTS.

This year was extra special for CFGNB as Jonathan Fontanez, a Solomon Hayes Memorial Scholarship recipient managed by CFGNB, was honored during the event.

From increasing access to fresh food and supporting urban agriculture to creating hands on learning opportunities for New Britain youth, New Britain ROOTS is doing meaningful work in our community. We’re proud to support events that bring people together and celebrate the people making a difference right here at home. 🌿

There’s so much to celebrate when a community comes together. 💜

We were proud to join Senior Transportation Services (STS) at their luncheon celebrating the incredible volunteers who give their time, energy, and care to make sure local seniors can get where they need to go.

Last year alone, Senior Transportation Service provided 5,066 rides to seniors throughout our community! That’s 5,066 trips to appointments, errands, grocery stores, activities, and the places that help people stay connected and independent.

This is what community is all about: showing up for one another. Thank you to every volunteer who gets behind the wheel and helps keep our community moving!

Our friends at Best Buddies Connecticut rolled out the red carpet for an incredible night celebrating friendship and belonging at their Champion of the Year Gala.

One of the evening’s featured speakers was Joshua Felder, a global ambassador for Best Buddies International (pictured below sporting an A+ high top fade).

Joshua has quite the resume. He performed alongside The Weeknd during the Super Bowl halftime show, starred alongside Woody Harrelson in the 2023 film Champions, and served as a coin toss attendant for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

But it was Joshua’s message that really captured the spirit of the night: “Inclusion is the new swag!”

Congratulations to everyone at Best Buddies CT on a great night and for the work you do every day to build communities where everyone belongs.

Big crowd last night for the Foundation’s Catalyst Giving Circle where we heard from this year’s three grant finalists about food insecurity and the work happening across our region to address it.

The evening’s featured guests included Tarsha Moore of My Portion Inc., Ashley Stewart of New Britain ROOTS, and Justin Woerz of the Plainville Community Food Pantry.

A very special thanks to everyone who joined us and The Hospital of Central Connecticut for their sponsorship, hospitality, and partnership. It’s deeply appreciated!

Catalyst brings people together to learn about pressing community needs. Members pool their contributions, hear directly from local organizations, and decide where funding can make the most impact.
