Magdalena Rug Hookers - Perry County, PA

For anyone who wanted to purchase tickets for the rug: We were just informed that the Board of the Senior Citizens Center decided to pull the winner at the carnival last week, not in August as was stated. To say we are disappointed is an understatement, that this rug was not able to raise the funds for the Center that we knew it could, and that more interested people didn't have a chance to win this piece of art & history that we hooked our hearts into.

Magdalena Rug Hookers donated this patriotic rug, made by members of the group, to the Central Perry County Senior Center. You can purchase raffle tickets from them at the New Bloomfield carnival this week, or at the Senior Center through August 10th. We hope you'll support them and all the good work they do!

The rug was inspired by the compass in the sidewalk at the PA State Capitol, adapted with red, white, and blue to commemorate America's 250th anniversary. Hooked with 100% wool on primitive linen.

Our Monday, February 23rd evening meeting is cancelled. Old Man Winter and Punxsutawney Phil are working together, and that means another possibly icy evening when we should keep off the roads. Stay home, safe and warm, and we'll get together in March!

We're canceling our Monday, January 26th evening meeting so everyone can stay safe at home. Show us what you're working on during Snowmageddon 2026!

Members of the Magdalena Rug Hookers volunteered to demonstrate this past weekend at the Little Buffalo Apple Festival. What a privilege it was to be hooking in the Blue Ball Tavern, where an original Magdalena Briner Eby rug is on display! Thank you to the Historical Society of Perry County for preserving this significant piece of folk art!
