Parents of what we consider” our senior campers”- sixth and seventh grade: We had started a few years ago having the campers do community service throughout our local area to help them build character, learn to develop responsibility, and give them the ability to feel like leaders. This has been very successful in the past and the kids end up really enjoying these activities l. Tomorrow they will be headed to Moravian Hall Square to play bingo with the residence. Walking to MHS is not mandatory it is optional, however with that being said, if your child does not choose to participate in the community service project at MHS, they will be doing something back at the park for that same duration of time. Whether it be role models to the Littles or doing activities around the park to help keep it beautiful and clean. They will still get their time to have water play and gym. They will be off the campus for approximately one hour and 15 minutes.l, that is scheduled into the day and part of the rotations tomorrow. They all had the conversation with their teams and their leaders, and the seventh graders certainly know what to expect since doing it last year. This is part of the program, We have developed here at SOAR and we really do feel like it benefits everyone . Generally after going on a community service outing, they are allowed to go someplace within the community to get themselves a treat. due to the fact that tomorrow is water Wednesday, tomorrow We have decided to have them come right back to campus so that they can participate in the activities. If you do not choose to have your child go , please send in a note tomorrow so that we can group them with another team that is back on campus. Thanks for your attention on this matter.
