We offer sanctuary & rehoming for shelter animals, including assessing potential working dog candidates. (501c3 non profit.) All care for animals is dependent totally on donations. No one affiliated with the rescue receives payment or a salary - we

The update we’ve been planning for a long time!!
Wednesday morning Tina , Cindy and Amos started out on his journey to get to his forever home.

We do not ship or transport for the most part. This was one of the few times we have made an exception.
Tina is Amos’ foster both when he was a baby then when he came back to us in horrific conditions. She nursed him back to health and then traveled 16 hrs (one way) to get him to his new family.
This family has been a part of SSAR for many years! First as foster family when they lived here then as an adoption family times two!

Thank you to everyone who donated funds to get him home! Thank you to Tina and Cindy and the Sabatowski family!!
After an emotional week in rescue this is why we keep doing it!

Jorge and Jane are safe with SSAR! Thank you Baldwin County Animal Shelter for entrusting them with us!

Jorge has already went to his foster and is learning the ropes. Jane is with me overnight and will go to her foster tomorrow. She’s a bit more shy and smaller than her brother so she needed a calmer home. She’s gotten her nails trimmed and her first tiny meal.

These babies will need very small meals and be watched closely to ensure they continue to improve. They should be double what they weigh now 12-14 lbs instead of 6-7. But we will take it one day at a time with them.

This is what they look like after several days of good food and care at the shelter. They will take a while to get healthy. But once they are out of the woods we will start taking applications. If you’re interested in one of these babies reach out and we can work with you!

Good evening SSAR friends and family!

Yesterday while I was in Robertsdale for Gigi (who is doing amazing btw) we were due to pick up a pup. We got a change of plans and ended up picking up 3 pups instead from Baldwin County Animal Shelter. These 3 boys were dumped at the DUMP!! Who does that??? There was a 4th that wasn’t caught yet.
We haven’t given them names yet but these 3 boys are beyond sweet. All between 6-10 lbs and about 18 months-2 yrs.

Today they caught the 4th little one who will be joining us soon.

But while there we heard of the case of cruelty and the emaciated babies!! Again WHO DOES THAT!!??

Yes, in almost 12 yrs with SSAR we’ve seen so much but each time it just disgusts me.
So, tomorrow we are going to pick up two of the emaciated babies since we have two fosters willing to step up and help!
These babies (one boy one girl) will need time to gain weight, heal their bodies, hearts and minds.

They really need your help! We are in need of quality dog food (both puppy and adult). We have 3 type on our Amazon list and we need all 3. If you want to purchase local we can arrange to pick up/drop off.
We need funds for their vetting. Adoption fees only come in after they have been adopted but we can’t get them vetted without the funds now!
We need you to share and spread the word! If you can’t donate, you can share!!

First, a Gunther update! He has Pannus. And while it is life long; the amazing vet at Animal Eye Clinic of Pensacola Dr. Spears thinks we can get him better. He may regain some sight. He will be on drops for life but if that helps him then heck yay!!

We have six weeks of drops to reduce the inflammation and then go back to see how much permanent damage and scarring is done by the neglect and not getting care.

So, with that said we are still looking for a forever home for him!

He’s so handsome and did amazing at the vet! He has come so far so let’s get this boy a home!!!

Today while in Alabama waiting on Gigi to have surgery we got a message about 3 little boys needing help. We pull from a variety of shelters both in FL and AL.

These three babies were found at the county dump. These boys are not trash!
They will have a few days to adjust, get baths and dewormed, flea treatment and then we’ll get them into the vet.

We are also in need of puppy fosters. Several very emaciated puppies came into the same shelter that could use some tlc!! (Photos to come when given permission)

We just dropped baby girl Gigi off at the vet! Such a big day for her. This surgery will enable her to have a much easier and less painful life! She has an amazing family waiting for her foe after she heals!

Of course she’s stressed!! But this will be worth it to have a great life!
