About Secular Rising US
Secular Rising US was born out of passion, necessity, and a dream for a stronger secular community. Founded on November 4, 2024, in Nashville, TN, we are here to plant a flag for atheists, secularists, humanists, and allies—right here in the heart of the South. Our mission is simple but ambitious: to connect and support nonbelievers and allies through activism, community,
education, and service. Why We Exist
The South is home to a growing number of nonbelievers, skeptics, and the religiously unaffiliated. Yet many feel isolated, unseen, or even unsafe expressing their doubts or beliefs. Even though there are plenty of events and groups out there, we’ve noticed the lack of a true home for our community—a central place where we can gather, collaborate, and thrive together. We’ve faced the challenge of bouncing between temporary meeting spots and operating in silos, disconnected from other groups doing incredible work. What We Do
Secular Rising US is creating a hub for connection across the South. This is about more than just hosting events (though we’ll do plenty of that!). We’re building bridges between organizations and individuals, so we can unite our voices and amplify our impact. Here’s what you can expect from us:
Events: From potlucks and philosophy nights to protests and park cleanups, we’re organizing activities that engage and empower the secular community. A Future Headquarters: We dream of a dedicated space to serve as our home—a place for events, meetings, and fellowship. Shared Resources: We’re developing a comprehensive calendar and database of events and organizations nationwide, making it easier than ever to find your people. Who We Are
