Can we talk about rabbit welfare and the growing trend of social media bunny influencers and bunny cafes?
Rabbits are prey animals and creatures of habit. They like a known environment and have their daily routine. Even rearranging their things or entering their space can be upsetting to them.
So, when we see dressed-up rabbits in unnatural scenarios on social media it makes our blood boil! Some people just think itโs cute and donโt realize they are doing any harm, but some do it to promote their brand or products with little to no regards to what's actually in the best interest of the animals when it obviously goes completely against their natural instincts and needs. Some of these influencers have huge followings and make money every time you like, comment and share their posts and by doing so you help normalize what isn't and should never be! We work hard advocating for rabbits and do not condone any form of animal exploitation!
It is never OK to dress up your rabbits and tote them around like they are accessories. It can make them feel uncomfortable, stress them out or be downright dangerous. Leashes, harnesses, backpacks are also not appropriate. So please ditch the outfits and leave your bunnies at home!
