GOTTA HAVE HEART - There was a lot of heartfelt congratulations and heartwarming emotion at the Catholic Charities Community Services of Rockland Hearts of Gold Gala held on June 17th.

CCCSR Board Chair Dr. Joan Facelle and Executive Director Stephen M. Papas presented awards to 15 honorees representing 12 Rockland parishes for their extraordinary efforts for their parish and to our community.

People to People - Feeding Rockland's Hungry is a long-time community partner of CCCSR and currently work together to provide guidance and assistance to those eligible for SNAP and other government programs.

We are ALL in this TOGETHER!

PROUD TO BE A COMMUNITY PARTNER - The weather was lovely on Sunday, June 14th, as elected officials, community members, bands, motorcycles and nonprofit organizations including People to People - Feeding Rockland's Hungry gathered in Nyack for the Rockland County Pride Center Pride Sunday parade and street fair.

People to People Director of Client and Volunteer Services Sharon Mellis and PtoP volunteers were at the People to People Feeding Rockland table distributing information about our programs and services.

People to People is honored to have partnered with the Pride Center on hunger relief efforts and look forward to identifying additional ways to work together.

THE TOWNS WENT TO TOWN for Down the Shore! - Thank you to the Town of Clarkstown, Town of Haverstraw and the Town of Orangetown for being represented on Sunday night.

Town of Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann and Town of Orangetown Supervisor Teresa Kenny were at the event. Town of Haverstraw Supervisor Howard Phillips was not able to attend but the town was ably represented by Haverstraw Town Clerk Raquel Ventura and Haverstraw Town Justice Ivonne S. Santos. Sabrina Vargas-Greco, originally from Haverstraw, is Rockland County's Commissioner of Jurors. Please note that Howie sent PtoP CEO Diane Serratore a fabulous floral arrangement, so she has forgiven him.

People to People - Feeding Rockland's Hungry provides food assistance to low-income residents in every town in Rockland. We could not do what we do without the considerable support by the Town Supervisors and town staff.

SMALL BUT MIGHTY! - The staff of People to People - Feeding Rockland's Hungry is small but mighty. These folks pictured with PtoP Chair Sabrina HoSang Jordan and PtoP CEO Diane Serratore help put food on the tables of nearly 5,000 low-income Rockland residents every month. They also provide information and referral services to those in need of additional support. They provide materials and other assistance to organizations that hold food drives for PtoP. They distribute school supplies and holiday gift cards to thousands of children from low-income income families every year.

Small but mighty miracle workers. That's what the People to People staff members truly are!

ROCKLAND'S NONPROFITS ROCK! - The people that staff and volunteer at Rockland's key nonprofitss work to help make our community a better place for everyone. It's not an easy job but someone's got to do it.

All of us at People to People - Feeding Rockland's Hungry applaud and appreciate our nonprofit partners.

Many of them were at Down the Shore on Sunday night because they believe that we are ALL in this TOGETHER!

OH, WHAT A NIGHT! - There were a lot of laughs, some tears but a lot of fun and a lot of funds raised for People to People - Feeding Rockland's Hungry at Down the Shore on Sunday night at the Hilton Pearl River.

Carnival games, boardwalk food (really fine boardwalk food!)), great music by Joe D'Urso and Stone Caravan, an incredible video by Joe Allen and so much more.

PtoP CEO Diane Serratore was presented with PtoP's Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of and gratitude for her 18 years of dedicated service to the organization's mission: to feed Rockland while treating our neighbors in need with dignity and respect.

Photographer extraordinaire George Pejoves took a bazillion photos. Here are some of the photos taken at the reception: PtoP donors, volunteers including PtoP board members, nonprofit leaders, elected officials, friends of PtoP and Diane, corporate supporters, Rotary folks and more.

As Diane said when she looked at the incredible group of people attending Down the Shore, "this is what a lifetime of relationships looks like."

Today is the day!

We are heading Down the Shore to celebrate People to People and honor Diane Serratore with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Diane’s leadership, heart, and commitment have helped shape People to People into the organization it is today. Her work has touched countless families across Rockland, and today we get to celebrate the impact she has made.
