“Communication shows that you care about your teammates”

That quote is one of many that Mr. George Toliver shared with our players last night.

Toliver, who has played and refereed at the highest levels, took time out of his schedule to share some wisdom about life, effort, and the love of the game with our girls. He talked to us about working when nobody is watching, getting a little better every day, teamwork, communication, and respecting the game.

He even hung around for a bit and talked shop with the coaches on what he was seeing during our drills.

This is Rising Tide. Not just a team or a tournament, but a program that is focused on growth both in and off the court. Thank you to Mr. Toliver, but also to our coaching staff for coordinating opportunities for our girls to learn from folks who have incredible knowledge to share.

🌊 THE NEXT WAVE IS ALMOST HERE. 🏀

The countdown is on! Rising Tide Girls Basketball is getting ready to hit the court with our Grades 7–8 Tryout & Open Gym!

We're building more than basketball skills. We're developing stronger athletes, building confidence, and helping girls grow into the people they're capable of becoming-on and off the court.

Think your athlete might be a good fit for Rising Tide? Come meet the coaches, get to know the team, and give our coaches a chance to see your athlete on the court!
This open gym is a great opportunity to experience what Rising Tide is all about-with free registration and absolutely no commitment required.

Just come ready to play, meet some new people, and see if the Tide is the right fit!

Another Thursday night of Fall Development means more reps, more instruction, and more opportunities to grow. From ball-handling and shooting, to footwork, finishing, and learning the game, every session is another chance to get better.

2️⃣ V 1️⃣

In this 2v1 drill, the scorer has 45 seconds to score as many points as possible with the help of a teammate and against a defender. The helper’s job is to screen, pass, rebound, and create opportunities for the scorer to get as many baskets as possible before time runs out.

After each round, players rotate roles so everyone gets a chance to be the scorer, defender, and helper at least once.

Scoring: Players earn points for every basket they score as the offensive player. They also earn the points their teammate scores when they serve as the helper. Both totals are added together to determine their final score in the competition.

I love this series because it’s fun, competitive, and teaches players how to move without the basketball. Players learn to create space, set effective screens, find open teammates, and work together to generate scoring opportunities. It’s a great way to develop offensive skills while keeping everyone engaged.
