Ryan’s Case for Smiles is dedicated to helping sick children cope with the stress of life changing illnesses and injuries. We provide children with
whimsical pillowcases throughout North America to give them an emotional boost and hope that enhances their emotional well-being. A hospital stay can be a terrifying experience for a child. So terrifying that 20% of children who survive cancer meet the

full clinical diagnosis of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). That’s a similar rate of PTSD to all U.S. Military Veterans since the Vietnam war. The good news is our whimsical pillowcases actually provide children with seven proven stress relievers during their hospital stays. These stress relievers include: 1. Distraction / Play 3. Choice/ Control 4. Familiarity 5. Expression 6. Connection 7. Hope Our new partnerships with the nation's leading child psychologists are helping us develop and distribute coping tools for families, with a goal to help children feel better to heal better. With every stitch, every yard of fabric and every pillowcase, we get one step closer to our goal of helping kids with life changing illnesses or injuries, feel better to heal better.

Today, we remember Ryan, whose joy and courage became the heart of Ryan's Case for Smiles.

Ryan was full of energy, mischief, laughter, and a spirit that could light up even the hardest days. Though he faced countless surgeries and years of chemotherapy, he never let his illness define him. He always had a smile, a joke, or a way of helping others find joy right alongside him.

Every single day through Ryan's Case for Smiles, we see Ryan in the faces of the children we serve, strong, courageous, resilient, and still just wanting the chance to be a kid.

His legacy lives on in every pillowcase delivered, every family supported, and every smile shared during difficult moments.

Happy Heavenly Birthday, Ryan.

You continue to inspire comfort, hope, and joy far beyond what you could have ever imagined.

Tanner underwent a significant surgical procedure at Hershey Children's Hospital during his infancy and on his grandma’s birthday. The first picture shows him with his family and the pillowcases he received during his hospital stay. On his grandmother Elaine's birthday, they have continued the tradition of creating pillowcases for Case For Smiles. Tanner is now a thriving 9-year-old. Thank you Tanner and Grandma Elaine🩷

Our amazing 8th-grade students have officially gone above and beyond! After putting the finishing touches on their own classroom sewing projects, these talented students kept their sewing machines buzzing for an incredible cause.
Using generously donated fabric, they put their newfound skills to work and sewed a whopping 86 custom pillowcases for Ryan's Case for Smiles!
These bright, cheerful pillowcases are headed straight to children and teenagers across Minnesota who are currently receiving medical care. A colorful, homemade pillowcase can completely transform a hospital room, bringing a much-needed touch of comfort and joy to a young patient during a stressful time.
Thank you to our hardworking students and the generous classroom volunteers who donated fabric and assisted students to make this project possible. You didn't just sew pillowcases—you wove kindness directly into our state!
