On this past Saturday, New Beginnings was home at Church of the Resurrection for its monthly third-Saturday grocery distribution.

I would like to thank Heather at the Low Country Food Bank for providing a wonderful array of food, including fresh cabbage, apples, bananas, grapes, both sweet and white potatoes, peanut butter, lentils, cucumbers, chicken, ground turkey, and so much more. We are truly grateful for the incredible variety of food that helps us serve our neighbors.

I also want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to all our volunteers who came out Saturday morning. We welcomed some new groups this month, including employees from Synovus Bank. We also grew our Food Lion volunteer team as a second store joined Melissa and her crew in supporting our efforts. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to be there for our community!

A special thank-you goes to the many volunteers from different churches and walks of life who continue to make this third Saturday of the month a priority. Your commitment to helping your neighbors is what makes these distributions so special. We also want to recognize our Socastee High School cadets, who return each month during the school year to lend their helping hands. We are so glad to have you back!

Finally, I want to recognize our New Beginnings/Faith Outreach Ministries committee members: Ann, Beth, Ken and Mary, Phil and Vicki, Pat, Brad, Kitty, and Bri. Each of you plays an important role in making these distributions possible. A very special shout-out goes to Bob, who tirelessly handles the setup, breakdown, and countless behind-the-scenes details that make this event happen every month. Bob, your dedication and hard work never go unnoticed, and we are so grateful for all you do!

We knew our numbers would begin to climb this month, as October typically marks the start of our busiest season leading into November and December. This Saturday, we also noticed a significant increase in the number of Hispanic families coming to receive groceries. We are thankful that we can be here to serve our neighbors as the need continues to grow.

This Saturday, we served 190 families, representing 544 of our neighbors, and distributed approximately 20,000 pounds of groceries!

To every volunteer, partner, and supporter who helps make this ministry possible, thank you. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of so many families in our community.

To God we give the glory.
