Main Street Muskogee

Main Street Muskogee The Main Street Muskogee mission is simple. It is to return the heart and soul to downtown Muskogee. We invite everyone to join on us on our mission.

Main Streets and historic downtowns are the places of childhood memories. They tell a story about the hopes, dreams and aspirations of a community. Downtown Muskogee speaks to the grandeur our founders had for the future of our town. One of the largest historic downtowns in the state, it spans a ten block area. Revitalizing this large a space is difficult, but we are doing it one section at a time

. We use the Four Point approach developed by the National Main Street organization. The proven tenets are 1) Organization (getting everyone synchronized toward fulfilling our mission of improving downtown), 2)Promotion (public relations benefitting all of downtown and attracting investors), 3)Design (creating an inviting atmosphere for customers and investors), and 4)Economic Vitality (helping established and new businesses succeed in our downtown area). We are here to help everyone in Muskogee enjoy the heart and soul of our significant downtown.

The Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame is bringing a fresh wave of energy to Muskogee full of music, creativity, and new possibilities. It’s more than a venue; it’s a spark for the next generation, opening doors, drawing people in, and building a brighter, more vibrant future for downtown. We can’t wait to see the finished project and even more, to hear live music filling the space soon. 🎶✨

🚨UPDATE: This project has been delayed and is now expected to proceed on Friday, May 15.

Expect Delays & Lane Closures.

Drivers should expect lane closures and traffic delays in the downtown area during the week of May 8–11 due to scheduled demolition work. Traffic patterns will be temporarily adjusted, and detours may be in place, particularly along Main Street and Broadway Street.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, follow all posted detour signs, and use alternate routes when possible. Please drive cautiously through the area and remain alert for changing traffic conditions.

We appreciate your patience as this work is completed.

We’re proud to share that Main Street Muskogee has once again been recognized as an Accredited Main Street America program for 2026! 🎉

This marks the second consecutive year our program has received this recognition since becoming a Main Street program in 2008. Earning accreditation for the first time last year was a major milestone, and we are incredibly proud to continue building momentum and growing in the right direction for our downtown and community.

This achievement reflects the dedication of our board, committees, volunteers, partners, businesses, and supporters who continue working to strengthen the heart of Muskogee every day.

Thank you for believing in Downtown Muskogee and being part of the progress. ❤️

Yesterday was Day 1 at the Main Street Now Conference 2026, and Main Street Muskogee is proud to be well represented!

Attending this year are Executive Director Courtney Graham, Board President Dominique Embry, and Design Chair Melony Carey. We’re also joined by an incredible team from the City of Muskogee including Schuyler Carter, Maxine Slusser, and Trisha JoAnn Brown.

It’s a great group of people working together, learning new ideas, and bringing inspiration back home to help strengthen and improve Muskogee. We’ll be here the rest of the week soaking up as much knowledge as we can!

Downtown Muskogee was busy this weekend! 🌟

Main Street Muskogee had the honor of hosting two tours of downtown for fellow Main Streeters visiting from across the country ahead of the Main Street Now Conference, which is being held this week in Tulsa. Thousands of communities, Main Streeters, municipalities, and economic development organizations from across the country are gathering there to learn new tools and ideas to bring back to their hometowns.

On Saturday, we welcomed guests from Wyoming, Colorado, and Maine, and had the opportunity to show off our wonderful downtown and the work happening here every day.

On Sunday, we hosted an even larger group representing communities from Detroit, Idaho, New Orleans, Iowa, and many more places across the country. We were also joined by Jonita Mullins, who helped provide incredible historical context about the buildings and places that make Muskogee what it is today. This group was also among the first to get a look at the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame project, visit historic homes, stop by the Three Rivers Museum, explore local businesses, visit the beautiful Roxy Theater, learn more about our upcoming Broadway District streetscaping project, and take in the beauty of Honor Heights Park.

By the end of the weekend, both groups left with a deeper appreciation for Muskogee’s heritage, its continued growth, and why our community truly is the place to be. ❤️

👏 A big round of applause to our amazing Main Street Muskogee volunteers who helped make these tours a success. Your time, energy, and hospitality helped show visitors what makes our community so special.

📸 More photos are coming soon as we continue editing the images captured by our photographer this weekend—stay tuned!
