Heyyyy everyone! 👋🏽

Tonight is a BIG night for Thredz.org and for the future of Muskegon Heights. We are officially on the City Council agenda regarding the former King School property and its potential redevelopment into a project focused on community impact and affordable housing.

This redevelopment has the potential to:

🏘️ Increase access to affordable housing
📈 Revitalize a long-standing vacant property
🤝 Create stronger community investment and neighborhood stability
💡 Open doors for future economic and community development opportunities
❤️ Provide resources and spaces designed to directly benefit local families and residents

We would truly appreciate the community coming out to support and help show that Muskegon Heights believes in positive redevelopment that puts the people first.

Thredz.org is honored to share that we had the opportunity to both present and exhibit at the 2026 Building Michigan Communities Conference hosted by Michigan State Housing Development Authority(MSHDA).

Thank you to BMCC and MSHDA for creating space for important conversations surrounding equitable development, authentic community engagement, homeownership, and countering the impacts of gentrification.

Our session, “From Investment w/ Justice to Community Quarterbacking: Countering Gentrification’s Impact,” allowed us to share the evolution of Thredz Inc work, including our initiative and broader Community Quarterback approach centered on expanding economic mobility and resident-centered investment.

We are especially grateful to our panelists and partners who helped make this conversation meaningful:

Donald Alexis — President of CICD in Boston, for traveling to Michigan and bringing a powerful perspective on justice-centered development and community investment.

Marria McIntoshMarria M. McIntosh — President/CEO of Thredz Community Building Organization, for sharing the organization’s vision and ongoing work surrounding equitable pathways to homeownership and community-led development.

Vander Weit — Founding Thredz Advisory Council Member, for continuing to advocate for authentic engagement and collaborative neighborhood development.

Kevin A. Watkins M.B.A. — VP of External Affairs & Market Manager Comerica Bank, for helping bridge conversations between financial institutions, equitable investment, and community partnership.

Thank you as well to everyone who stopped by our Pathways to Homeownership exhibitor booth, connected with our team, and engaged in conversation around expanding access, ownership, and opportunity.

The work continues.

🎙️ On the Air with Jil in the Midday — Real Estate Bootcamp Recap

Earlier today, Teresa Gillotti , Real Estate Program Manager at CEDAM, Marria McIntosh Thredz.org President/CEO Joined Andrew Sims , Owner of J*P, LLC, and Jil on WUVS 103.7 The Beat to close out the Real Estate Development Bootcamp Convened by The Community Economic Development Associates of Michigan (CEDAM)

CEDAM continues to lead as a statewide convener and connector, creating space for emerging developers to gain real knowledge, relationships, and access to opportunity.

Sims brought a powerful dual perspective as both a seasoned real estate professional and a Bootcamp participant—a reminder that growth never stops.

From our seat at Thredz, the focus remains:

👉🏽Development must lead to economic mobility—not displacement

👉🏽Access must translate into action and ownership

Marria was Grateful to also serve as a Bootcamp presenter this week, speaking on what it means to engage authentically with community before development—ensuring residents are not just considered, but are an intricate part of the process.

Now that the Bootcamp has wrapped—the work begins.

Appreciation to Jil and WUVS 103.7 The Beat for elevating this conversation.

Had the opportunity to be interviewed by WOOD TV8 alongside Emily Reyst of CEDAM about the Real Estate Development Boot Camp—a five-day intensive designed to equip emerging leaders, nonprofits, community members, and municipal staff with the tools to address the housing crisis.

Emily Reyst walked through what the boot camp covers—from the history of the housing crisis and the development process to capital stacks and available incentives—along with the hands-on project pitch participants complete with real feedback from funders.

Thredz President/CEO Marria M. , had the opportunity to serve as a presenter, speaking on the importance of authentic community engagement in development—ensuring projects are informed by and aligned with the people they impact.

Additionally, she spoke on breaking down the gatekeeping of industry knowledge and creating pathways for those already doing the work to access the technical side of development.

The next Community Economic Development Association of Michigan (CEDAM) boot camp is scheduled for September in Ga***rd.

❤️🏠 To the Thredz Team and Our Community — Thank You. 🏠❤️

The 3rd Annual House Party to Homeownership was an incredible success, and it happened because an entire community came together to make it possible.

To the Thredz team, volunteers, youth leaders, partners, and everyone working behind the scenes — we are deeply grateful.

From the planning and preparation…
To welcoming guests…
To making sure every detail came together…

Your dedication helped create a space where our community could learn, connect, and take real steps toward homeownership.

We also want to take a moment to welcome two incredible new members to the Thredz leadership team:

✨ I’yanah G. — Vice President of Operations
✨ LaJada J. — Creative Marketing & Digital Engagement Director

Both doctoral candidates, and they absolutely showed up and showed out. Because of the leadership, coordination, and creativity of this team, everything flowed seamlessly and the event went off without a hitch.

A special thank you as well to our A1 since Day 1 Board, Advisory Council & Community supporters:

👏 Billie Joy T.
👏 Pastor Randy V.
👏 Dennis C.

Your continued belief in this vision and your steady support of this work means more than words can express.

And of course… our Y3 youth leaders continue to make us proud.
As always, the Y3 face cards never stop hitting. ❤️👏🏽

To everyone who came out, listened, asked questions, leaned into the experience, and believed in the vision —

We could not have done this without you.

This is what it looks like when community comes together to expand opportunity and build pathways to wealth.

Together, we are building something powerful.

1:1 Mortgage Pre-Qualifications

🏠📊 Real conversations. Real numbers. Real next steps.

One of the most impactful moments during House Party 3: Pathways to Homeownership, presented by Huntington Bank, happened during the 1:1 Mortgage Pre-Qualification sessions.

Attendees had the opportunity to sit down directly with lending professionals and get a clearer picture of their buying power and next steps toward homeownership.

HUNTINGTON BANK LENDERS SHOWED UP…DEEP!

These weren’t intimidating meetings—they were encouraging, informative conversations designed to help people understand where they stand and what it will take to move forward.

For many, this was the first time they had ever sat across from a lender to ask questions and explore their options.

And the best part?
These soft pull pre-qualifications meant no credit hit, giving participants the freedom to learn and plan without fear.

This is what the Pathways to Homeownership movement is all about—removing barriers, increasing access, and helping people move from uncertainty to possibility.

Every conversation was a step closer to turning the dream of homeownership into reality.

Thank you Huntington Bank and LMCU for your lender participation!

✨The House Party Resource Expo was powerful. ✨

One of the most exciting parts of House Party 3: Pathways to Homeownership, presented by Huntington Bank, was seeing our community connect directly with organizations and professionals who are ready to help make homeownership possible.

Our Resource Expo brought together incredible partners who spent the day answering questions, sharing resources, and helping attendees understand the real tools available to them on their journey.

From financial education and credit support to housing programs and community resources, the room was filled with meaningful conversations and new connections.

What stood out the most was the engagement—people leaning in, asking questions, gathering information, and realizing that they don’t have to navigate the path to homeownership alone.

This is what it looks like when community, resources, and opportunity come together in one room.

Thank you to every organization that showed up to support our community and to everyone who took the time to explore the resources available to them.

The journey to homeownership doesn’t happen in isolation—it happens in community.
