A very important reminder as we enter amoeba season:
If you use any type of sinus rinse โ whether itโs a NeilMed rinse, neti pot, or another sinus irrigation system โ please remember to only use:
โ
Distilled water
โ
Sterile water
โ
Or water that has been boiled and properly cooled
๐ซ Never use tap water directly in your sinus rinse.
Water safety matters. Certain free-living amoebas, including Balamuthia mandrillaris and Naegleria fowleri, can cause devastating infections.
This awareness is deeply personal for Team Koral Reef ๐ชธ. Two of our board members have lost daughters to two different amoebas:
๐ Balamuthia mandrillaris took the life of our beautiful Koral.
๐ Naegleria fowleri took the life of Kelsey.
We share this to honor their lives, educate our communities, and help protect others through awareness and prevention.
Please watch and share this important reminder about sinus rinse safety. ๐
