The Lake Commission overseas the following: the fishing pier, the aeration system in the winter, the lake trail maintenance, and the disc golf course at Lawcon Park.

We are looking for suggestions for recreational improvements around the lake. What would you like to see?

Here are a few ideas that may be of interest:
• Kayak rental
• Climbing wall
• Dock
• Playground equipment
• Swimming lessons
• Other ideas

Please let us know what would benefit the community and would be nice to implement around the lake. There is a project fund set up through the Mountain Lake Foundation with SWIF (Southwest Minnesota Initiative Fund). Donations would be welcomed! More information will be posted soon.

We want to that Jim Nickel from Nickel Construction and Trent & Pam Hoek from Hoek Outdoors for giving of their expertise and time in assisting the Lake Commission. Jim helped move the W**d Harvester and the Hoek’s helped move the fishing pier - both to their winter location. Thank You!!

Alert! The lake trail passes through Minnesota DNR land. So from now until the end of the year, please be aware of this, and wear blaze orange, or other brightly colored clothing, while hiking, walking, or riding bike around the lake.

Work is going on for the Jim Peterson Memorial Fire-pit Area.

Update on anchor weights for the raft - they have been located and are marked with a jug. The raft appears to have been intentionally unhooked and moved.

There is green algae actively growing on the lake right now, so we will find a time to possibly get the raft back out on the lake.

The raft’s anchor weights became disconnected, causing it to drift away. It has since been retrieved and is now back on shore, but without the anchor weights, we can’t safely put it back into the lake.

If anyone knows where the anchor weights are, or has any information about where they may have been dropped, please send me a DM. We’d really appreciate your help in getting the raft back out on the lake for everyone to enjoy this summer!
