Meet Serena!

Serena's journey began after her mom, Gracie, was part of a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) at a community cat colony cared for by Alley Cat Rescue. Soon after her rescue, Gracie gave birth to five beautiful kittens, including Serena!

Serena is a sweet, playful kitten with a whole lot of love to give. She is incredibly gentle, loves affection, and is sure to become your new best friend! She is also a playful little pro who loves chasing the wand toy, racing after balls, and showing off her impressive hunting skills.

Serena is up-to-date on all vaccinations and has tested negative for FIV and FeLV.

It is with heavy hearts that we share that Marble has passed away from heart failure.

In the last few weeks, 6-month-old Marble went through testing and imaging because he was having episodes of labored breathing. We were worried it might be his heart, and sadly, we now have an answer.

Marble had dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). His cardiologist believes his heart was damaged before he was even born, most likely because his mother had panleukopenia while she was pregnant — which in itself is a story of suffering that is difficult to think about.

We rescued Marble three months ago from a Los Angeles colony with nine adult cats and 12 kittens. We sterilized and vaccinated the unsocialized adults and brought the kittens into our foster-adoption program.

One of those kittens, Waylon, suddenly collapsed and died while playing. Vets believed he likely had a congenital heart problem. Marble and Waylon were about the same age and size and may have been littermates. We later learned that several kittens had also died at the colony before we got there.

This is one of the reasons spaying and neutering community cats matters so much. Kittens born outdoors face so many risks, and sometimes their problems begin before they are even born.

Marble will be dearly missed, and we are glad to know he spent his final days in the comfort of our care surrounded by other cats who loved him so much.

Meet Jolene!

Jolene was found in a window well with her three siblings. After Alley Cat Rescue took them in, we quickly learned that Jolene was a sweet kitten with a lot of love to offer.

When she isn't running around and playing, she will happily accept love and affection from you with a sweet, gentle purr. She is an incredibly well-rounded kitten who is sure to bring so much love into your home!

Meet Riley!

Riley's journey began after his mom, Gracie, was part of a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) at a community cat colony cared for by Alley Cat Rescue. He was one of five in the litter-- and has always been the most social!

Riley is a playful and adventurous kitten who is always ready for action. He is the first one to come running when he sees you and loves being part of the fun. He will also happily accept any affection and attention you send his way.

Riley is a curious little kitten who will keep you entertained and fill his forever home with love and energy. He is neutered, is up-to-date on all vaccinations and has tested negative for FIV and FeLV.

Today is World Rabies Day, and Alley Cat Rescue wants to remind you of the importance of keeping your pets vaccinated-- even if they are indoor-only pets.

Rabies is an acute and deadly disease caused by a viral infection of the central nervous system. The rabies virus is most often spread by a bite and saliva from an infected mammal. Vaccinating your cats is the BEST way to protect them from the virus.

Meet Venus!

Venus is a beautiful kitten with a large personality. She loves chasing the wand toy, racing after balls, and showing off her impressive hunting skills. She is also full of energy and curiosity, making every play session an adventure.

She is also incredibly sweet and will happily soak in your attention and love. She is a very well rounded kitten who is looking for someone to shower her with affection.

Five-month -old Marble has been keeping us—and his veterinary team—searching for answers.

It started when we noticed that Marble was experiencing shortness of breath. What made it hard to figure out, was that the episodes were intermittent. At other times, Marble seemed completely fine—eating normally, playing, and behaving like his usual self.

Marble has now been seen by several veterinarians and has undergone an extensive series of diagnostic tests, including multiple X-rays, ultrasounds, and additional testing to try to determine what is happening.

For now, Marble continues to eat, play, and enjoy his days, which we are very grateful to see. But we still need answers. His veterinary team is continuing to look into exactly what is causing his intermittent breathing problems and what treatment he may need going forward.

The results are beginning to point toward a cardiac issue. He is seeing a cardiologist this weekend. And we will keep you updated.

Please keep this sweet boy in your thoughts as we continue searching for answers.

All of these veterinary visits, imaging studies, and specialized tests add up quickly, but Marble deserves every chance we can give him.

Meet Josh!

Josh was found as a kitten in the window well of a building along with his three siblings. Alley Cat Rescue brought them all in so they could find a safe, loving home.
