Backpacking in Panthertown Valley in the Nantahala National Forest. Known as the "Yosemite of the East", we hiked over 10 miles, had a lot of elevation gain and trail food, and enjoyed the refreshing (COLD) waterfall!

It was another great First Class Campout at Black Creek Scout Reservation in GA. Our new scouts had a chance to learn so many basic scouting skills from our more seasoned scouts and in the afternoon, everyone rotated through rifle, shotgun and archery ranges. Scout life is the best life!

At the end of March, low country scouts came together at Camp Moultrie for the Etiwan District Spring Camporee. The theme, “Old School Scout Traditions”, had Scouts showing off their outdoor skills, teamwork, creativity, cooking, campsite set up and more. In the end, our Troop 11B won first place and brought home the trophy! We are so proud of all of our scouts! Practice makes perfect, so we are always excited about our next outing and another chance to have fun and learn together.

Earlier this month, over 20 of our scouts attended Merit Badge University at the Citadel. Our very own Advancement Chair (as well as historian and professor) David P. taught several badges. What a great opportunity to be with other scouts and get a variety of merit badge requirements completed!

There is never a bad time to practice the many skills of Scouting. Lashings, cooking, fire starting...not to mention learning that your tent will keep the rain out during a heavy downpour! Our February Skills Outing was a fun weekend of getting back to basics. As we look forward to our newly bridged Scouts joining us, know these guys are ready to teach you well!

The Etiwan District - Coastal Carolina Council BSA Banquet celebrates scouts and volunteers each year. Our very own Scoutmaster Tart was honored as Scoutmaster of the Year 2025! Behind every great scout-led troop, is a group of adults helping them to succeed. Brandon Tart is the man behind it all and we are so thankful for his time and energy! Congratulations!

We love celebrating all of our individual and troop accomplishments at Court of Honor! We had a great night of awarding merit badges, acknowledging rank advancements and even giving out several special awards. Congratulations to Eagle Scout Ryan M. for earning his Grand Slam Award and Will G., Ethan K., and ASM Dmytro K. for earning their Triple Crown Award for High Adventure. Congratulations to Will T. and Asher B., who earned their Complete Angler Award. Thank you to Humphrey T. and Ben P. for being the emcees for the night and to Rev. Buchanan with Christ Episcopal Church - Mt. Pleasant for our opening prayer and Zach M., Etiwan District - Coastal Carolina Council BSA District Executive, for joining us and doing a great job with Friends of Scouting. We have a lot to celebrate!

Sometimes the best laid plans don't go as you expected, but the results end up being better than you imagined! Our scouts and adults didn't let record low temperatures and snow stop us from staying out all night to get two hogs roasted to perfection. Sunday morning, we celebrated Scout Sunday with Christ Episcopal Church - Mt. Pleasant and then served over 400 plates of BBQ and sent food to 4 different groups of local first responders. There are plenty of people to thank, but we want to give a special appreciation to Rodney Scott's BBQ for providing the hogs and know-how. We truly could not have done it without you. Thank you for serving our community so well with good food and helping hands. Also, to Christ Episcopal Church - Mt. Pleasant, every scout troop is required to have a chartered organization, but we are blessed to have a true partnership. Thank you for giving us resources, encouragement, and working with us in so many ways throughout the year. And, to the families of Troop 11, what an incredible weekend. So many made desserts, made sides, worked in the kitchen and the Shed, packaged food, arrived early, stayed late (or overnight) and lived out the Scout Law of being Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent. Can't wait to do it again!

Despite temperatures well below average, many of our scouts braved the cold and other elements to earn their Wilderness Survival merit badge last weekend. Great job learning, brushing up on, and putting those skills into practice!

We wrapped up 2025 with a fantastic week of Winter Camp at Camp Ho Non Wah. Winter Camp offers merit badges and opportunities that Summer Camp doesn't, and it is always so much fun to go and be a part of our Coastal Carolina Council, BSA camp!
