From the river valley to the tree tops, Bryson City, NC was full of adventure! Our scouts had the chance to white water raft and zipline and have plenty of fun together. And an escape to the mountains is always a good idea during the HOT summer months!

Students at Moultrie Middle School will have two gaga ball pits to enjoy thanks to the planning and leadership of Will T for his Eagle project. Will went to middle school there and was excited to give back to the school and community in this way. And with school starting in a couple of days, these students now have another thing to look forward to! Way to go, Will!

Palmetto County Park has more spaces for their rental kayaks thanks to Remy M's Eagle project! Remy led the troop in building and installing the new storage rack, which will ensure that more kayaks are available to be enjoyed by the community. Great job, Remy!

For his Eagle project, Will G built a bridge across the historic confederate trench at Christ Episcopal Church - Mt. Pleasant. This will make for easier passage between the church and the shed (where our scouts have had many meetings, including two straight years during Covid). Congratulations on a job well done, Will!

Summer Camp at Woodruff Scout Camp in Georgia was a blast! Six scouts participated in the Mountaineer Program, completing many of the requirements for the first ranks of their scouting career. A total of 66 merit badges were earned, with over 40 more started (badges like cooking and camping have more requirements than can be completed during a week-long camp). Troop 11 earned the Honor Troop award, and most importantly, countless memories were made! Fishing, horseback riding, cooking, and even a little rain kept our scouts working hard and having fun.

"Fishing is not an escape from life, but often a deeper immersion into it" (Harry Middleton). Summer started with a group heading down to the Florida Keys for Florida Sea Base Fishing Adventure. Our crew had a phenomenal week with multiple days fishing off-shore. Scouts caught mahi, tuna, and many other species of fish and had the chance to prepare and cook their catches. In other words, they ate well all week! They even snagged a great tarpon off of the dock at base. Finally, scouts were treated to a time of snorkeling and a day in Key West. It will definitely be a top memorable outing for all of the scouts and leaders who went!

Backpacking in Panthertown Valley in the Nantahala National Forest. Known as the "Yosemite of the East", we hiked over 10 miles, had a lot of elevation gain and trail food, and enjoyed the refreshing (COLD) waterfall!

It was another great First Class Campout at Black Creek Scout Reservation in GA. Our new scouts had a chance to learn so many basic scouting skills from our more seasoned scouts and in the afternoon, everyone rotated through rifle, shotgun and archery ranges. Scout life is the best life!

At the end of March, low country scouts came together at Camp Moultrie for the Etiwan District Spring Camporee. The theme, “Old School Scout Traditions”, had Scouts showing off their outdoor skills, teamwork, creativity, cooking, campsite set up and more. In the end, our Troop 11B won first place and brought home the trophy! We are so proud of all of our scouts! Practice makes perfect, so we are always excited about our next outing and another chance to have fun and learn together.
