Look at the hair on this doll! The sewist made hair on a hairpin lace tool and machine sewed it on to the head. No more hand sewing hair on the head using this technique ... and the hair is fun!
Here's the technique:
- Wrap yarn on a hairpin lace tool
- Machine stitch the hair, while on the tool, close to one of the prongs. Use a narrow ribbon along the stitching line to stabilize the stitches
- Sew the doll bodies to the doll heads
- Place doll head/body pieces right sides together
- Insert the hair on the head between the two heads
- Sew the head/bodies together, being sure to capture the hair in your stitching.
- Stuff the doll
- Machine sew the bottom of the doll body to close the opening
