Can your business charge customers extra for paying with a credit card? What about offering a discount for cash? The rules aren't always as straightforward as they seem.

United Southern Bank is bringing local businesses and community members together for its monthly Local Link networking and education series on Tuesday, November 10, from 5:15–6:30 p.m. at its Mount Dora branch.

This month's guest speaker, Jennifer Stokes, Senior Business Consultant with Clover, will break down surcharges and cash discounts, including when businesses can use them, when they can't, and what owners need to know.

The event is free to attend, with light refreshments and opportunities to connect with fellow local professionals.

This Veterans Day, the Golden Triangle is coming together to honor those who have served our country.

Mount Dora, Eustis, and Tavares are each hosting special celebrations in the days ahead, giving our communities three opportunities to recognize our veterans, celebrate their service, and show our appreciation.

Here's what's happening across the Golden Triangle:

🇺🇸 Friday, November 6 | Salute to Veterans – Eustis

6–10 PM | Downtown Eustis, 111 N. Eustis Street

Enjoy three bands across two stages, military vehicle displays, and Wreaths of Honor.

🇺🇸 Saturday, November 7 | Grills, Frills & Chills – Tavares

10 AM–4 PM | Wooton Park, 100 E. Ruby Street

Hosted by Tranquiliti Healing Arts & Wellness, this community celebration features food, vendors, live music, and the Phantom Airborne Brigade.

Join us for a special Ceremony of Honor, live music, and food as Mount Dora gathers to recognize the men and women who have served.

Santa Claus is making a special stop in Mount Dora!

While you're enjoying Light Up Mount Dora on Saturday, November 21, stop by Movement Mortgage for milk, cookies and a little Christmas magic! Cole Barlow and the Mortgage Doctor Team are hosting one-on-one visits with Santa, giving kids a chance to share their Christmas wishes and snap a few holiday photos.

The festivities run from 5:30–7:30 PM at 930 N. Donnelly Street, with Santa visits from 6–7 PM.

Santa visits require advance reservations, with one 5-minute time slot per child. Be sure to reserve your spot before they're gone!

Spend a Florida sunset with the horses at Heartland Haven Foundation!

This Saturday, November 7, the Sorrento nonprofit is welcoming the community for Sunset Sip & Share, an evening of good company, light food and drinks, and a chance to meet the horses and people behind its mission.

From 5–7 PM, guests can tour the foundation’s new property, hear inspiring stories, and discover how Heartland Haven is making a difference through the connection between people and horses.

The event is free to attend at 31707 Orange Street in Sorrento. Donations are welcome, and RSVPs are requested.

Come for the sunset, stay for the horses, and discover a local nonprofit worth getting to know!

A little Jimmy Buffett, a beautiful Mount Dora sunset, and a chance to give back to those who serve our community. That's a pretty good reason to make plans this Saturday!

The Pirates & Parrots Festival returns to the Mount Dora waterfront on November 7, and organizers are hoping the community will come out in a big way to support the Firefighter Charity of Central Florida.

The festival is a fundraiser first and foremost, but they're making it quite the party! The Landsharks Band, known for their connection to Jimmy Buffett, will take the stage alongside other live entertainment, bringing an afternoon of island music, food, drinks, and waterfront fun to Elizabeth Evans Park.

And here's where YOU come in. Ticket sales are an important part of making this charitable event a success, and general admission is just $25.

So if you've been looking for something fun to do this weekend, consider making Pirates & Parrots part of your Saturday. You'll get a great concert, a gorgeous setting, and the satisfaction of supporting a local charitable cause.

Halloween on the water? Now THAT sounds like a spooky good time!

Forget the haunted houses! This Halloween, Rusty Anchor Mount Dora Boat Tours is taking the party into the swamps of Dora Canal for its 6th Annual Halloween Boat Tour!

On Saturday, October 31, climb aboard for an adults-only evening cruise through one of Mount Dora’s most beautiful (and potentially spooky!) waterways.

Costumes are encouraged, with prizes for the best dressed, and you're welcome to bring a small cooler with your favorite beverages!
