The Morton Giving Garden for All is already taking root in our community!
Morton Community Foundation is proud to have awarded a $7,940 Community Grant to Community United Church of Christ (CUCC) for the Morton Giving Garden for All...a free, open-to-everyone garden located on a church-owned lot on First Street between Monroe and Madison.
Partnering with Giving Gardens for All (givinggardensforall.com), CUCC is creating a space where Morton residents of all ages and abilities can grow, harvest, and share fresh produce at no cost. Whether you want to get your hands in the dirt or simply stop by for a fresh tomato, everyone is welcome. Produce will also support CUCC's Caring Cupboards food pantry, ensuring neighbors experiencing food insecurity have access to fresh vegetables throughout the growing season.
These photos show volunteers, Giving Gardens for All representatives, and grant writer Tracey Greenwood-Williamson already hard at work...tending early plantings, setting tomato cages, and getting beds ready for the next round of planting. The energy and community spirit on display are exactly what this grant was designed to support.
A big thank you to everyone digging in to make this vision a reality. We can't wait to watch it grow!
