time! Today we celebrate the Dennis & Paula Ewald Family Endowment Fund.

This unrestricted endowment was established by the MCF Board of Directors in 2009 to honor Dennis Ewald's six years of dedicated service as Board President. Created by naming a portion of the Morton Impact Fund in his honor, it gives the Foundation the flexibility to respond to the evolving needs of our community during the Annual Community Grant program.

Thank you, Dennis and Paula, for your commitment to Morton.

Happy ! This month, we're celebrating the funds that were born in June — and there are 13 of them!

We're kicking off with the Doug Shull Memorial MHS Cross Country Endowment Fund. This fund honors Doug Shull's memory by providing annual support to Morton High School's Boys and Girls Cross Country programs — covering uniforms, equipment, meet participation, and even scholarships for runners with financial need.

Every step on the cross country course is a tribute to Doug's legacy.

This month, the Morton Community Foundation is recognizing 13 funds that were established over the years in the month of June and continue to make a lasting impact throughout our community and beyond. From scholarships that help students pursue their dreams, to support for youth sports, libraries, historic preservation, individuals with disabilities, and early childhood literacy, these funds reflect the generosity and vision of donors who chose to create a legacy of giving. Together, these endowments are helping strengthen Morton and improve lives year after year.

Take a moment to learn about each of our June Fundiversaries and join us in thanking the individuals and families whose generosity continues to make a difference.

And if one of these funds sparks an idea for a cause, scholarship, or charitable legacy you’d like to explore, we’d be happy to visit with you. There’s never any obligation, just a conversation about what matters most to you and how you might make a lasting impact.

It was great attending the Community Foundation of Central Illinois Annual Meeting recently and reconnecting with friends and colleagues who share a passion for philanthropy.

One fun moment of the evening was gathering for a photo with fellow community foundation executives, including Mark Roberts, Exec. Director of the Community Foundation of Central Illinois, and Dan Templin, Exec. Director of the DeKalb County Community Foundation (IL). Dan and his siblings were also in attendance as supporters of a family endowment fund established at CFCI in memory of their father.

Community foundations may serve different communities, but we’re all united by the goal of helping generous people make a lasting difference. In fact, we pool our investments with the Community Foundation of Central Illinois, and they do a great job for us.

We’re proud to support opportunities that help Morton students learn, grow, and succeed.

Through a recent Morton Community Foundation Community Grant, Morton Junior High School was able to purchase three new cellos for its orchestra program. It’s exciting to see these instruments already being used by students as they develop their musical talents and create wonderful music together.

Thank you to everyone who supports MCF and helps make investments in our community’s future possible!

The Morton Orchestra is very grateful to have received a $2400 grant award from The Morton Community Foundation!

This allowed the purchase of three new cellos to be used at Morton Junior High School. Mr. Akers said the students have already started making wonderful music and are appreciative of this amazing gift!

This grant will save lives.

🥎🩵 Community. That’s what this is all about. 🩵🥎

Recently, a congregation member and local rec coach reached out needing a specific field surface for practice. Since LPSC was on the road last night, we were happy that the CBC field was available and ready for their team to use.

After practice, the coach sent us this message:
✨ “As someone who has seen the fields not in great shape, you guys have done a great job with making them playable and useable!” ✨

That compliment means a lot to us because there are countless hours of volunteer work behind the scenes that make moments like this possible. Our field committee works tirelessly to maintain a safe and welcoming place for kids to play — even through busy schedules and rainy stretches like we’ve had lately. 👏

Unfortunately, tonight’s games did end up being canceled after additional rain moved through, but we’re proud that we were still able to provide a quality practice space for another local team beforehand. 🩵

A huge thank you to our field committee for the hard, often thankless work they put into these fields. Their dedication helps create opportunities not just for LPSC athletes, but for the community as a whole. We can’t wait to finish our field improvement plans, made possible by the Morton Community Foundation and their community grants, and see how much better it can be! 🥎💪

At the end of the day, we believe softball is bigger than any one organization, and we’re proud to do our part to help create opportunities for kids in our community whenever we can. 🩵
