Pickleball season in Moravia is almost here!

The nets will be going back up at the pickleball courts soon, and we’re looking forward to another great year. Last year was a fantastic first season with a steady group of people out playing and four great tournaments hosted by the Betterment Committee.

This year we’d love to see even more community groups get involved. If your Moravia organization would like to host an event or fundraiser at the pickleball courts, you’re more than welcome to use them.

Just send us a message and we can help get something planned.

Looking forward to seeing everyone back out on the courts this spring!

Nominations for the 2026 PACT Annual Banquet awards are due next week!

These awards give us the opportunity to celebrate the businesses, individuals and organizations striving to make Appanoose County a great place to live! All of these awards are open to anyone in Appanoose County to win (excluding the Main Street Centerville award) and you don't have to be a member of PACT to be awarded or to submit a nomination! Nominations are due by 2/13/26.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Nancy Hatfield, a foundational member of the Moravia Betterment Committee.

Nancy was instrumental in helping shape our committee and community. Her dedication to Moravia, her belief in community pride, and her willingness to step up and serve made a lasting impact that will continue to be felt for years to come. She gave her time, energy, and heart to making our town a better place for everyone.

Beyond her volunteering, Nancy will be remembered for her kindness, steady encouragement, and genuine care for others. She was the kind of person who quietly made things happen and always put community first.

We extend our deepest sympathy to Nancy’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. We are grateful for her leadership, her friendship, and the legacy she leaves behind.

What a turnout—thank you to all who entered the raffle! We love putting our raffle together for Moravia. Congrats to all the winners!

The big winners of the night were the Moravia Fall Festival committee for putting on yet another great festival, each year levels up because of your hard work and the incredible volunteers behind the scenes. All your hard work and dedication does not go unnoticed and is well appreciated.
