On May 30th, I got the privilege to share a special story at Carnegie Evans Public Library in Albia with about 20 children. After the story, we did some activities to promote awareness for individuals with disabilities.
The best part is thanks to a generous donation from Iowa Total Care, Ragtime Industries was able to donate more than 25 books to the library for community members of all ages to enjoy reading.

We are approaching the end of this Special month.
One thing I have noticed in my almost 30 years in this field is most employers do not know the special advantages and resources available to them through the government when they hire individuals with disabilities.
So, besides all the other advantages I have talked about this month, can you Imagine training a new employee and getting reimbursed for 130 percent of their wages during the training period. Trainee wage reimbursement is only one of several services the Bureau of Rehabilitation Services (BRS) offers to employers to help meet their business needs. The services also include the trial work program where an employer can “try out” the job seeker at no cost before making an employment offer. In addition, BRS may facilitate on-the-job training and reimburse the business for the time spent with the trainee.
Businesses can also qualify for federal and state tax credits by hiring a person with a disability.
The best resource yet is that organizations like Iowa's Medicaid Waiver programs and Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation will provide funding for individuals with disabilities to pay providers, like Ragtime, to provide on-the-job training and work with the employer to ensure that the job seeker is successful and learns the full scope of the job without straining the employer's resources.

It is halfway through the month, and we are only getting started outlining the benefits of hiring individuals with disabilities. Let's take a look at another.

Daily tasks include but are not limited to:
*Completing daily documentation
*Provide quality assurance of completed work
*Independently work offsite and manage a small group of clients
*Providing transportation for out-of-town clients
*Work with clients to support them while working on Employment
Goals
*Complete your work within all written policies and procedures
Requirements include:
*Valid Drivers License and Car Insurance
*Ability to lift at least 50 pounds consistently
*Good written and communication skills
*High School Diploma
