Moravia Fire & Rescue recently purchased a F.A.S.T. Board after seeing it demonstrated during a training. This versatile tool is designed to assist with rapid firefighter rescue, patient packaging, and extrication in challenging environments. Our board is also equipped with a flotation device that makes it suitable for water and ice rescues.

The F.A.S.T. Board (Firefighter Assist and Search Team Board) is a rigid yet lightweight device that allows crews to quickly secure and remove downed firefighters from tight or hazardous spaces. It features multiple handholds, straps for patient stabilization, and can be used in a variety of scenarios, including mayday situations, confined space removals, ice rescues, water rescues, and even as a traditional patient movement device when needed. Its design helps distribute weight evenly, making it easier for crews to move patients efficiently while reducing strain on rescuers.

Last night, we had the opportunity to train with the board alongside Dinges Fire Company who walked our members through several practical applications. Crews practiced techniques for firefighter removal, stair drags, and maneuvering through confined spaces.

While this was a significant investment for our department, it’s one that directly supports firefighter safety and operational effectiveness. The F.A.S.T. Board will be a major asset in helping us protect both our personnel and the community we serve.

Effective February 27, 2026 at 6:30 PM, the State Fire Marshal has issued a Proclamation Prohibiting Open Burning in Appanoose County due to dangerous conditions.

⚠️ Open burning is prohibited until further notice

Current conditions pose a serious risk to life and property. Please help keep our communities, firefighters, and first responders safe by complying with this order.

We will update everyone as soon as the ban is lifted.

Moravia Fire & Rescue would like to extend a sincere thank you to Agriland FS for generously providing three cents per gallon of gas sold during their recent promotion.

This contribution is a tremendous asset to our department and will allow us to purchase much needed equipment to better serve our community.

We are also incredibly grateful to everyone who fueled up during this promotion. Your support directly impacts the safety and readiness of Moravia Fire & Rescue. Thank you for helping us continue to protect and serve.

Turning Gallons into Giving - Moravia ⛽

Monday night, Jim Koffman of AGRILAND FS presented a check for $3,707 to the Moravia Fire and Rescue during their monthly team meeting at the Moravia Fire Station. This was a result of our Fuel Up & Give Back Program, where 3¢ for every gallon of fuel purchased at the Moravia FAST STOP from October 1, 2025, to January 31, 2026, went to support this community organization.

“We are truly grateful for this partnership and the investment AGRILAND FS is making in the safety and well-being of our residents,” said Ryan Moore, Fire Chief at the Moravia Fire & Rescue. “This contribution will directly benefit our department by helping us update essential equipment and purchase items that may not have otherwise been possible. Having the right tools in place is critical to ensuring that our firefighters and EMS personnel can respond safely, efficiently, and effectively when our community needs us most.”

We are kicking off another round of our Fuel Up & Give Back program in March to benefit another local organization in our FAST STOP communities — can you guess who our next recipient will be? ✏️📚
