It is with heavy hearts that we’ve heard of the passing of General Hellativity yesterday. It was always a pleasure to have him at our events. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all of ILWR at this time.

General Hellativity, known in "real life" as David Kornreich, started with our league just learning to skate upright and in the ref lane. He spent more than a decade teaching countless referees, NSOs and skaters the intricate rules of roller derby, often with a GoPro mounted on his helmet.

Dave could be counted on as a voice of reason, and a reliable and committed volunteer. He served on ILWR's Board of Directors and was one of a handful of people who helped rebuild the league after COVID, ripping out the remnants of an abandoned Old Navy alongside skaters to help turn it into our home for the next few years.

We are devastated by his loss, and our thoughts are with his wife and family. Thank you for helping make derby happen, Dave.
