It is with heavy hearts that our membership learns of the passing of firefighter Preston Oleski, a dedicated member of Excelsior Hose Co. No. 2, Station 226 Duryea.
Preston was a true staple of the local community, selflessly serving all his neighbors in the lower valley for over 9 years with unwavering commitment, courage, and pride. His presence on the fireground and throughout all the various communities the Duryea Fire Department served, will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Our entire membership extends sincere heartfelt condolences, prayers, and strength to Preston's family, his friends, and all of his brothers and sisters within the Duryea Fire Department during this incredibly difficult time.
Rest easy, Preston.

Dispatched as a motor vehicle accident rollover on Interstate 81 Friday evening. Additional sources provided all occupants were out of the vehicle, however the vehicle was now on fire. Rescue 98 arrived and knocked down considerable fire with the use of an onboard 60 gallon CAFS system. Brush 98 who was previously detailed to PNC Field for a Fireworks stand-by was requested to the scene along with Old Forge Engine 93 for additional water. PA Ambulance rendered care to the injuries.

A huge Thank-you to Dunbars Evergreen Landscaping for touching up the mulch and planting beds in front of the Fire & Police station in Moosic. George and his team are always there to lend a hand. We continually get comments about the colorful landscaping, and we owe it all to their design and work.

Chris is always there to capture the work that all these guys and girls do at a moment's notice. Todays notice was at 1:19 am this morning. First Alarm companies were met with heavy fire throughout a wood frame double block. The fire advanced to a 2nd alarm bringing additional responders. Extremely warm and very humid conditions played hard on the crews. While multiple exposures suffered radiant heat damage, crews were able to hold the fire to the building of origin. We are fortunate for such favorable home town and neighboring responders.

Hi Moosic. We have had several inquiries regarding the American Flag we fly above the Emergency Services building here in Moosic. Many have inquired about providing a flag to be displayed. In support of this wonderful offering we will gladly place your name upon a plaque that will proudly hang inside our facility. If interested, we ask for a 6' x 10' exterior nylon flag. We will fly your flag for a six month period, barring any damage. Additional information can be obtained by contacting the Fire Station non emergency number at 570-961-9454.
