🌊🐢 Evening Encounter in the Reef – Male Hawksbill Sea Turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata)

As the day comes to an end, we share a peaceful underwater moment with a male hawksbill sea turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), moving gracefully through a coral reef habitat.

A reliable way to distinguish male sea turtles is by their elongated, thick tail, which extends beyond the rear edge of the shell. This characteristic is directly related to reproductive function. Females, in contrast, have a shorter and less pronounced tail, making this one of the key external differences between sexes in marine turtles.

Observations like this highlight the importance of understanding sea turtle biology and the role each individual plays in maintaining healthy marine ecosystems.

🌎🐢✨ Celebrating Our Conservation Alliance in Venezuela 🇻🇪💚

We are delighted to support sea turtle conservation through the donation of books that inspire future generations. 📚🐢🌊

The children’s book Santa Fe y sus huevos color luna, created by Venezuelan authors Patricia Pérez and Michelle Gómez, continues to share its message of education, environmental awareness, and conservation with new communities.

This time, the book is reaching another beautiful region of Venezuela. Through the initiative El Mar Empieza Aquí (“The Sea Begins Here”), copies of the story are being donated to Santo Domingo de Guzmán School for use in its library, helping students learn about the importance of protecting marine life and our oceans. 💚

We sincerely thank everyone involved for their enthusiasm and commitment to conservation. Together, we can inspire young minds to become future guardians of the sea.

One careless moment on the water can change a sea turtle’s life forever 💔. Slowing down can save lives.

Sea turtles must surface to breathe and are often difficult to spot. High-speed boats and personal watercraft can cause serious injuries or death.

🌎 Nesting season is a critical time for sea turtles, making extra caution on the water more important than ever.

‼️ If you encounter an injured or deceased sea turtle, do not touch it. Report it immediately to your local sea turtle conservation organization.

Bonfires may seem harmless, but on nesting beaches they can confuse sea turtles and hatchlings that rely on natural moonlight and starlight to find their way to the ocean.

The glow from a fire can attract turtles in the wrong direction, causing stress, exhaustion, and increasing the risk of injury or death.

If you visit a nesting beach:
🔥 Do not build bonfires
💡 Keep lights to a minimum
🌊 Give sea turtles a safe, natural path to the sea
