About our product: Since 1939, our master Ecuadorian craftsmen have been hand carving decorative marble gifts inspired by the local marine life. Their highly developed skills and crafts have been handed down for generations, from family to family, and now extends far beyond their borders to you. As partners with S&S Handcrafts, the artisans unanimously agree to join us in exercising fair trade sta

ndards and practices to "give back" to the region in order to ensure the enrichment of it, as well as their own lives. For as a socially minded business, it is our philosophy that it is only when we all do good, that we can all do well. Every year we donate a portion of our annual proceeds to The Georgia Sea Turtle Center and The Hawaiian -Environmental Alliance (KAHEA). What rises into the sky… always finds its way back. 🎈⬇️🌊

Balloon releases may appear beautiful and harmless, but every balloon eventually falls back to Earth. Too often, these balloons end up in our rivers, coastlines, and oceans, where they become a serious form of marine pollution. 🌊

🐢 Sea turtles face one of the greatest risks. A floating balloon can look remarkably similar to a jellyfish, one of their natural food sources. When a turtle swallows a balloon by mistake, it can cause internal blockages that prevent normal feeding and may result in severe injury or death.

Balloons also pose a threat through entanglement. Sea turtles, seabirds, fish, and other marine wildlife can become trapped in balloon materials and ribbons, leading to injuries, restricted movement, and, in some cases, drowning. 🪼🐟🐦

We are very pleased to announce that Proyecto Akupara has officially received the funds from The Turtleman Foundation to support their important sea turtle conservation work in Venezuela. 💚

We are especially happy to continue strengthening the valuable alliance between The Turtleman Foundation and Proyecto Akupara, working together to protect sea turtles, support local conservation efforts, and promote environmental education in coastal communities.

This contribution will help improve hatchery infrastructure, strengthen field operations, and provide essential equipment for the protection of leatherback, hawksbill, loggerhead, and green sea turtles.

This video shows a baby sea turtle beginning its incredible journey through the ocean. As it swims beneath the surface and rises to breathe, it reminds us how vulnerable sea turtles can be in coastal waters. 💙

A simple act of caution can save a life.

Sea turtles have inhabited our oceans for countless generations, playing a vital role in maintaining healthy marine ecosystems. Today, however, many face serious threats from human activities. As they travel and surface regularly for air, collisions with speeding boats and jet skis can result in severe injuries or death.

🇪🇨🐢 News from Ecuador

The Turtleman Foundation is pleased to announce that the funds for this project have been successfully received by Fundación Salvando Ecosistemas, marking another important step in our conservation partnership.

Through this alliance, the Community Educational Festival will be carried out at Unidad Educativa Diana Esther Guerrero Vargas, bringing together students and community members to learn about sea turtle conservation and the impacts of climate change on marine ecosystems.

The project will include an educational presentation, the creation of beach awareness signage, and a community fair where participants will share the results of their work and conservation efforts.

Partnerships like this help expand environmental education, inspire local action, and strengthen the protection of sea turtles and their habitats for future generations.

Whether we are on vacation or simply enjoying the beach, let’s remember that beaches are also home to sea turtles and the beginning of an incredible journey for their hatchlings. ✨

Keeping beaches clean, dark, and flat ( ) helps baby sea turtles safely find their way to the ocean. Artificial lights, trash, deep footprints, and obstacles on the sand can disorient or block them.

Please never pick up a hatchling. 🐢
Baby sea turtles need to crawl naturally toward the ocean to help imprint the beach location, allowing them to return years later. This important journey also helps strengthen their flippers for life at sea. 🌊

If you see nesting turtles or hatchlings, always keep a respectful distance and follow the guidance of trained conservation teams. 💚
