The Montpelier American Legion received a Temporary Charter in 1919 and its Permanent Charter in 1920, making it the oldest Veterans Organization in Montpelier. We work closely with the Williams County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 944 and many of our members hold dual membership in both. We serve our community in many ways throughout the year by providing Honor Guards for Veteran’s memorial servi
ces, Color Guards for Community Events, Teach the local 2nd Graders the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance, Decorate the graves of Veterans in ten local cemeteries and many other activities. We are open every Saturday morning for a Vetogether (Social fun for all ages and good natured poking at each other) from 8:00 to 10:00 am and we meet the last Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm.
