It may have been a hot week, but our Scholastic Book Fair was 🔥 a sizzling success! 📚✨ We loved seeing our Husky readers discover new books, find new favorites, and get excited about reading. 🐾📖

📚💙 Back to School Night is TONIGHT! 🐾

We’re excited to welcome Husky families back to campus! Join us for an evening to meet your child’s teacher, learn about the year ahead, and get important school information.

📅 Wednesday, August 26
🕔 5:00 PM – Cafe Gate opens + Chanos Food Truck
🏫 5:30–6:10 PM – Classroom Session #1
⏰ 6:10–6:20 PM – Break
🏫 6:20–7:00 PM – Classroom Session #2

✨ A few important reminders:
• Please park on Casuda Canyon Drive and do not use staff parking spaces.
• Cafe Gate is the entrance and exit for Back to School Night.
• Chanos Food Truck will be in the Garden Driveway, with 15% of sales benefiting ASB General Funds. Cash, credit card & Zelle accepted!
• There will be no TK or Kinder teacher sessions, as New Student Orientations were held on August 1.
• Adventures/Apollo pickup will continue through Gate 1—please do not enter campus through Gate 1.
• Session #1 and Session #2 will be identical, so families with multiple children can attend different classrooms.
• Adults should use the Staff restrooms in the Cafetorium near the Library.
• Stop by Mrs. Sara Safa’s table in the Quad for bell schedules, maps, volunteer forms and more!

💙 Please note: Back to School Night is not a time for individual parent conferences. Teachers will schedule parent conferences in September.

Grades 6, 7, and 8 Students and Families:

Monterey Highlands is pleased to bring another year of Mock Trial to you this year, with the support of the PTA. The mandatory kickoff information meeting is this Thursday, Aug 27, at 5-6pm in the Cafetorium. All students and their parent/guardian should attend the meeting to learn more about this exciting opportunity for students to:

🎤 Build confidence through public speaking
🎭 Develop acting and performance skills
🧠 Strengthen critical thinking and teamwork
⚖️ Learn courtroom strategy and legal advocacy
🏆 Represent Monterey Highlands in the LA County Mock Trial Competition in November

No prior experience is required. Any student interested in law, theater, public speaking, performance, debate or a fun new challenge is welcomed!
