Ruth was abandoned by her owner. Did you know that abandoning, dumping or relocating a feral cat outside its natural range is illegal under Penal Code Section 597s? Up to six (6) months in a county jail, a fine of up to $1,000. A court may impose both. Turns out that feral cats have rights, too 🙂

Check out these adorable kitties at the Big Pine shelter!! The black kitty is named Ruth, and we brought her on Saturday from Lone Pine after she was abandoned and left behind when her owner moved away.

It is a wonderful day for a chess tournament in Lone Pine! We are here at the historic Statham Hall. We even have a friendly stray kitty hanging around the door to remind us why we do the work.

Don’t give them away! If your plan for feral kittens in your neighborhood is to collect them up and give them away, then contact us to help you with a better plan.

Giving away kittens to other people does not help the feral cat problem, it only makes our mission more difficult. Those cute free kittens will be having kittens under someone else’s house in 6 months.

Some of you were asking how we come up with a number of 45 for the number of kittens and cats after one year. Well, you can have a look at this graph. This is likely an underestimate since in reality there’s 3 to 4 breeding cycles per year.
