The Montello Historic Preservation Society's home is the historic JP Vaughn Hall. Built in 1912, Vaughn Hall was originally a blacksmith shop and community center. Today Vaughn Hall houses a Community Hall upstairs and the MHPS museum with exhibits downstairs. Hours of operation and events change with the seasons. During the Fall and Winter months we will be open during special events. The Communi

ty Hall is available for private use for birthdays, weddings, or club gatherings. For information about scheduling a special tour or a private event, please email [email protected]. Mission: The Montello Historic Preservation Society strives to connect the past to the present in order that all who live, visit, or pass through Montello may benefit from knowing how those who came before us worked and played, what they dreamed and accomplished. how and why they grieved, laughed, loved and what gave them joy and the resilience to go on even through hardship.

It was 1972 and Montello got a new welcome sign. These were the civic organizations at that time. The BOAC was launched in 1968 to promote civic engagement and community development. Sadly, the Women's Club, Rotary and BOAC no longer exist here. There have been many other organizations over the years including the Montello Civic Club, the International Order of Odd Fellows, a Masonic Lodge, and others. We still have the wonderful FFA, Lions, Chamber of Commerce and American Legion.

The Centennial book about Westfield can be purchased at the Marquette County Historical Society on Lawrence Street in Westfield. Find them on Facebook. The book is only $5. All local historical society book sales for both Westfield and Montello go directly to the historical societies to help them preserve local history.
