🐶 A Happy Ending Thanks to Teamwork 🐶

On Wednesday evening, the Marquette County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center received a report of three puppies that had been found in a culvert near Eagle Ave. and 2nd Dr. in the Town of Springfield.

A deputy responded to the scene and, with the help of several caring local citizens, they were able to safely rescue two of the three puppies. Live traps were set in hopes of rescuing the remaining puppy.

The following morning, another deputy returned to the area and was able to safely rescue the third puppy. All three puppies were found to be safe and uninjured. They were transported to Whistling Winds Animal Getaway and are being properly cared for.
While we're grateful this story had a happy ending, it is heartbreaking to believe these puppies may have been abandoned. Calls like this are another reminder that our deputies respond to much more than criminal incidents. They are here to help whenever our community, including its animals, are in need.

A sincere thank you to the citizens who stopped to help with the rescue and to Whistling Winds Animal Getaway for providing these puppies with the care they deserve. Together, we helped give these three puppies a second chance.

Thank you Piers Plus for your generous support!

Last night at the Westfield High School Scholarship Awards Night, Isabell Nelson was recognized as the recipient of the Marquette County Crime Stoppers Scholarship.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office recently investigated a theft of property, specifically Trail/Game Cameras. The theft was reported as having occurred in northwestern Marquette County, specifically Springfield Township. During this investigation, our deputy was able to identify a suspect and recover over a dozen cameras which are all believed to have been stolen by the same individual. The suspect, identified as Terry Goldsmith, was arrested on March 29th, 2026, for multiple counts of theft.

Following the arrest, the investigating deputy has been attempting to determine the owners of the cameras which were recovered. So far, he has been successful in locating some, but not all the owners. Based on his investigation, it is believed that the cameras were most likely stolen from northwestern Marquette County as well as properties in eastern Adams County. If you have had a camera stolen in these areas of Marquette or Adams County, we ask you contact the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office and speak with Deputy Benjamin Gorr.

We are asking for the public’s help. If you have any information that may be useful, please contact us.
