Good morning friends! A few notes for this morning:
1) Western classes will run quickly this morning. Please be ready and listen for announcements.
2) A Monroe Co H&P ONLY rule for our leveling program regarding riding with 2 hands in Western Classes:
Riding Horse
Walk Only: Can safely walk on the rail, demonstrates control to steer, stop, reverse, and back. Riders
are permitted to ride two handed with a snaffle bit regardless of the horse's age. Riders using a shank
bit will still be required to ride with one hand.
Walk Trot: Walk trot rider guidelines are the same as WTC riders but exclude cantering and leads.
Skills for level 1- Rider demonstrates that they can maintain control of their horse. Horse will stop,
turn, and change gaits on command. Rider can complete introductory straight-line patterns while riding
and in showmanship. Rider can obtain the correct diagonal and lead up to 50% of the time. Riders are
permitted to ride two handed with a snaffle bit regardless of the horse's age. Riders using a shank bit
will still be required to ride with one hand. This two handed rule does not apply at the state show.
