Florida's property tax reform proposal is heading to the November ballot and it has significant implications for homeowners, businesses, and local governments across our community.
During the June 2026 special session, the Florida Legislature passed HJR 1F, a constitutional amendment that would raise the homestead exemption to $250,000 by 2028, potentially eliminating property taxes for an estimated 60% of Florida homeowners. While school district funding is protected under the proposal, key questions remain about the impact on local government revenue, public services, and the broader business environment.
Our board is actively reviewing the proposal and weighing the full picture before taking a formal position. In the meantime, we're committed to keeping our members and community informed every step of the way.
We've published a full breakdown in our latest blog post, covering what the proposal does, what it doesn't do, and what's still unclear. We encourage every business owner and community member to read it and stay engaged. Link in Comments 👇
