The Perfect Dog

The Perfect Dog The Perfect Dog is a 501c3 nonprofit dog rescue organization, founded in 2010, serving Northern California. We don’t discriminate.

The Perfect Dog rescues the “IMperfect” dogs who have simply been overlooked at the shelter or who have special medical or behavioral issues which puts them at risk of euthanasia, and finds them the perfect homes. If there is a dog in need, it doesn’t matter its age, breed, condition, history, etc. If it needs help, we will do what it takes to find a way to help the dog. We believe in giving every shelter dog a chance and we believe there is the right home for every dog out there.

🐾 WE HIT 50!!! 🐾🥳🥳🥳
Fifty community dogs have now been spayed or neutered through our program — and that means fifty fewer litters, hundreds of lives spared from overcrowded shelters, and a healthier, happier community for dogs and people alike.

This milestone doesn’t happen without the incredible support of volunteers and donors who believe every dog deserves a fighting chance. 💛

Want to help us continue helping the community? A donation to our rescue goes directly toward keeping this program running — covering surgeries and even transport if needed.

🆘 URGENT‼️ NO ONE has stepped forward to foster, adopt, or rescue any of these puppies from the community situation we have been trying to assist! 😭 The situation has become DIRE!!! They are either locked up in this small penned off area, or they’re escaping the 10acre property and neighbors are complaining calling animal control. They all have their first DHPP shots (due for 2nd in one week), the girls now also have rabies shot and are spayed. THEY ALL NEED TO GO! PLEASE HELP!! They are located in La Grange, CA. 7 month old Pyrenees/lab/pit mixes. DM if you can help.

🐾 BIG NEWS from The Perfect Dog! 🐾
Thanks to our community, 36 dogs have been spayed or neutered through our Community Assistance Spay/Neuter Program — and we’re not stopping there! We have 9 more pups scheduled and counting! 🎉 We are at nearly 50 dogs done!!! 😱😱😱
Every single surgery means fewer litters. Fewer litters means fewer dogs flooding already overwhelmed shelters. It’s that simple — and YOU are making it happen.
🏠 Shelters across our region are at capacity and beyond. The best way to save lives isn’t just adoption — it’s *prevention*. Our program helps pet owners in need access spay/neuter services so no dog becomes a statistic.
But we need YOUR HELP to keep going!! 💛
👉 Donate today to help us hit our next milestone!
Every dollar goes directly toward surgeries for dogs in our community.

‼️ 🆘 ‼️ *courtesy post* There’s SIX 6 month old puppies that need homes ASAP!!! Dad was a Pyrenees/lab mix we got courtesy neutered back in December but apparently he got to a female (mom is a very sweet, good pit mix, she’s on the list now to get spayed next) right before 😩! They’re all very sweet and pretty mellow. Living mostly outside, some have ticks and they all still need their shots etc. They urgently need to get out of their current situation!! Located in La Grange, CA. Dm us or email [email protected] if you can take one!

It’s been two years since we finally stopped a fraudulent rescue, who was intaking specifically special needs dogs on a very calculative, manipulative basis. In 2019, I met April because of her CH dog, Clyde, through special needs dog social media. She also claimed to run a nonprofit rescue. However, after several months, I started to see some concerning red flags in how she ran her rescue. She did NOT run a rescue how a rescue is normally run, and I started seeing more special needs dogs going in, than I saw were receiving any veterinary care, and than she was adopting out. In fact, her website wasn’t complete, and none of the dogs were available for adoption. Out of concern, I found the original rescue of a dog she was in the process of intaking, despite already having multiple very handicapped dogs. After realizing how she lied to them, the rescue immediately ceased and retracted their adoption of the dog. I, then, found the original rescue of another dog (Marley) I was very concerned about in her care, and urged them to do a welfare check on the dog. Upon seeing his extreme deteriorating condition, they immediately reclaimed him. We were able to save one other dog from her as well, as a rescue reclaim, due to unpaid bills and no veterinary care received. Unfortunately, she euthanized one of the healthy remaining dogs, Rex, whose original rescue was trying to reclaim, out of spite. After the events of 2019, we knew she was not in the right position to have dogs, let alone special needs ones. We were extremely concerned about her repeating her behavior, so we made a website and social media pages with her name, evidence, and warnings to potential rescues or shelters looking to adopt their dogs to her. Unfortunately, she changed her name, started a new rescue, and apparently kept continuing, until finally Becca became concerned about her dog she adopted to April in 2023. Today, the judge sentenced April to a total of 3.5 years in jail for animal cruelty and fraud charges, which is disappointing. She’s already served 2yrs, which means she will be free in just a year. To be continued in the comments…
