The Perfect Dog is a 501c3 nonprofit dog rescue organization, founded in 2010, serving Northern California. We don’t discriminate.

The Perfect Dog rescues the “IMperfect” dogs who have simply been overlooked at the shelter or who have special medical or behavioral issues which puts them at risk of euthanasia, and finds them the perfect homes. If there is a dog in need, it doesn’t matter its age, breed, condition, history, etc. If it needs help, we will do what it takes to find a way to help the dog. We believe in giving every shelter dog a chance and we believe there is the right home for every dog out there.

WE ACTUALLY DID IT!!!! Never in a million years did we think this was possible. With limited funding, we expected to only get a handful of dogs done. But not only did we FAR surpass that goal, we did it in LESS than a year! 😱 We started with the small, very rural community of Lake Don Pedro (which affects shelters across 3 different county lines!), and have recently expanded to all of Tuolumne County! Eventually, we would love to expand even further after that.

I don’t think you guys understand how critical this is. The state of California is in a major overpopulation crisis. Dogs are being euthanized in your local shelters DUE TO SPACE. This hasn’t happened since the 80s! Hardly anyone is fostering or adopting anymore. Great dogs either die in the shelter or in the streets when shelters are too full to accept them. THE GENERAL COMMUNITY DOESNT UNDERSTAND HOW BAD IT IS NOW. There’s SO many dogs flooding the system and communities, that we simply can’t foster or adopt our way out of this crisis.

ACCESSIBLE SPAY AND NEUTER IS THE SOLUTION. Then the community has NO EXCUSES and can get their dogs done! Limit the number of litters being born, decrease the number of dogs being dumped or flooding into your local shelters. Spay and neuter- THIS IS THE WAY.

PLEASE HELP US CONTINUE to save countless lives this way! 🙏

🐾 IT’S $5 FRIDAY! 🐾

Spaying and neutering community dogs helps:
🐾 Prevent unexpected litters
🐾 Reduce roaming and unwanted puppies
🐾 Ease the overwhelming pet population crisis
🐾 Reduce the number of dogs entering our local California shelters
🐾 Help prevent shelter euthanasia due to overcrowding/space

$5 may seem small—but together, those $5 donations can make a HUGE difference! ❤️

♻️🐶 Turn Your CRV Recyclables into Life-Saving Care for Community Dogs! 🐶♻️

Throughout the month of August, The Perfect Dog Rescue is collecting CRV recyclable bottles and cans to help fund our community spay and neuter program.

Every recyclable you donate helps prevent unwanted litters, reduces pet overpopulation, and gives more dogs a chance at a healthy, happy life.

💚 Here’s how to help:
♻️ Gather your CRV recyclables
📍 Take them to Sonora Recycling Center
🗣️ Tell them they’re for The Perfect Dog Rescue

It’s that simple!

Every bottle. Every can. Every donation makes a difference for the dogs who need us most.

Thank you for supporting our mission to create a brighter future for community dogs—one recyclable at a time! 🐾

🐾 MILESTONE ALERT! 🐾

We are OVER THE MOON to celebrate a huge win for our community: 75 dogs spayed and neutered!!! 🎉🐶

Each one of these procedures means less overcrowding our local animal shelters, healthier pups, fewer unplanned litters, and a stronger, safer community for animals and people alike. This is a massive step forward — and we couldn’t have done it without YOU.

Now we’re setting our sights a little higher: our goal is 100 dogs! 💪

We need your help to close that gap! Every donation — big or small — goes directly toward the spay/neuter surgeries.

👉 Will you help us get from 75 to 100? Donate today and be part of this life-saving milestone with The Perfect Dog 🐕💛

Numerous people have reached out to us for comment regarding Miranda’s Rescue and the situation surrounding it. I’ve tried to stay out of the drama, but am getting increasingly frustrated now seeing organizations playing victim when THEY KNEW and WERE WARNED that something wasn’t right, and intentionally chose to continue efforts sending dogs to Miranda’s. I found this conversation I had with someone part of an organization who networked dogs to Miranda’s EIGHT YEARS AGO!!! My gut KNEW Miranda’s was shady, I KNEW the math wasn’t mathing (like how could they intake and adopt out hundreds of dogs per month in rural Humboldt when more populated areas were severely struggling, let alone aggressive ones). I also don’t know of any other rescue that charges to intake dogs especially from animal shelters. And I knew his promise of training the dogs was a joke, he’s very obviously not a dog trainer. I have cringed for years any time I saw a dog being sent there, knowing it didn’t seem like an ethical rescue at all. Bottom line is Shannon is an evil person who took advantage of a desperate situation and desperate people. But many knew something wasn’t right, yet chose to ignore the red flags, on the basis of false, fantasy hope. The whole situation is beyond frustrating and devastating. The only victims in this situation are the dogs. And I do hope justice will be served.

🚨 URGENT: Penny & Hank need a home NOW 🚨

We’ve begged and pleaded for months to find these sweet pups a foster or forever home. Now the heartbreak is even deeper — their sister recently escaped the property and was hit and killed by a car. We cannot let this happen to Penny and Hank too.

They are 9 months old, medically done (shots and spayed/neutered already), and we can provide all supplies to any foster home. All they need is a roof over their heads and someone willing to show them life.

Please, if you can foster or adopt — or know someone who can — reach out today. Time is not on their side.

Please share. It could save their lives. 🐾💔

Today, a total of 57 dogs have been successfully sterilized through the collaborative efforts of our rescue and Jamestown Veterinary Clinic. As a result, these canine companions will no longer endure the strain of unwanted breeding, and their potential offspring will not contribute to the existing shelter population! All of these animals are now poised to lead healthier lives. 🥰
