🟣 Project #16 of 25 | Canyon Rim Cares Day of Service – July 18

For the nearly 300 million people worldwide living with a rare disease, being heard can feel like the hardest battle of all. That's why we're proud to welcome the Utah Rare Disease Advisory Council (RDAC) to Canyon Rim Cares Day of Service!

RDAC works to break down the barriers that prevent individuals living with rare diseases from accessing proper treatment, resources, and care. They are a voice for patients and families who too often have to fight for the attention their conditions deserve.

Come meet the RDAC team at Canyon Rim Park on July 18, learn about their work, and discover how you can support the rare disease community right here in Utah. πŸ’›

🌟 Thank you, First Lady Abby Cox & the team! 🌟

We were honored to host you on a tour of our Millcreek Miracle stops β€” Marissa's Books, Granite Credit Union, and Millcreek City β€” showcasing what's possible when a community decides to show up for one another.

A heartfelt thank you to the partners who shared their work and welcomed us in: PC Tots, the Granite Education Foundation, the Millcreek Promise Program, the Millcreek Business Council, and Millcreek Community Theater. Your dedication is the heartbeat of this effort.

Thanks also to KSL TV and Fox 13 for coming out and helping us tell the important story that we can all make a difference in our communities.

Here's what today proved: when businesses, nonprofits, and residents all work together, we can make miracles happen right here in our own community. πŸ’™
This is just the beginning. Let's keep showing up. πŸ™Œ

✍️ Project #14 of 25 | Canyon Rim Cares Day of Service – July 18

Some of the most powerful words are the simplest ones: "We see you. We're grateful. You matter."

In partnership with UServeUtah β€” Utah's state commission on service and volunteerism β€” our volunteers will spend time on July 18 writing heartfelt cards for refugee and military families in our community.

It's a small act with a big impact. For a family navigating a new country or a service member far from home, a handwritten note from a neighbor they've never met can be a reminder that they are not alone.

UServeUtah believes that when Utahns serve together, we build trust, address local challenges, and create lasting solutions. We couldn't agree more. πŸ’›

Come write with us at Canyon Rim Park on July 18.

🧑 Project #13: Fleece Blankets with HealEx
Canyon Rim Cares Day of Service β€” July 18
HealEx provides healing from exploitation from the inside out, building trust and self-worth with survivors so they can make a sustainable escape into a happier, healthier life.
Join us in making cozy fleece blankets for women HealEx serves in the Salt Lake area β€” a simple gift that says: you are seen, you are valued, you are not alone.
βœ‚οΈ How you can help:

Come tie blankets with us on July 18
Donate fleece fabric
Lend a pair of fabric scissors

Every blanket wraps a survivor in comfort and care. πŸ’™

Early childhood teachers shape the foundation of who we become β€” and they deserve to feel appreciated! πŸ’›

Our volunteers are assembling Teacher Appreciation Kits for the hardworking early education teachers served by PC Tots. Each kit is packed with a heartfelt thank-you note, hand cream, a Tide stain remover pen (because toddlers πŸ˜„), a gas card, and classroom supplies including washable dot markers, modeling dough, and a rainbow sand timer.

These educators show up every day with patience, creativity, and love. Canyon Rim Cares is showing up for them on July 18.

Thanks also to Marissa's Books & Gifts for providing books to include in the kits.

🍚 Project #11 of 25 | Canyon Rim Cares Day of Service – July 18

For many refugee families in Utah, stocking a kitchen isn't just a convenience β€” it's a lifeline. That's why we're assembling Food Staple & Storage Kits for the International Rescue Committee! 🏠❀️

Each kit includes essentials like a large food-safe storage container, smaller tupperware, resealable bags, and pantry staples β€” rice, flour, oil, salt, tea, and more. As refugee families face the loss of SNAP benefits, these kits provide something foundational: the ability to store and prepare food at home with dignity.

This is community showing up for neighbors. See you July 18! πŸ™Œ

Feeding Those Who Served
This Canyon Rim Cares Day of Service, we're honoring the men and women who served our country by making sure they don't go hungry. Project #10 partners with the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System to assemble food bags for homeless veterans in our community.
🎯 Our Goal: Pack 200 tote bags β€” each containing a full week's worth of food β€” for veterans who need it most.
πŸ›οΈ Each bag will be filled with shelf-stable, ready-to-eat foods that don't require a can opener, microwave, or stove β€” because access to a kitchen isn't something everyone can count on. Think pop-top cans, protein-packed snacks, and hearty staples that travel well and fuel the day.
πŸ’ͺ Here's how you can help:

Donate non-perishable food items from our needs list (to be published shortly)
Show up and pack bags with your neighbors on Day of Service
Spread the word β€” share this post and tag a neighbor who'd want to help

These veterans gave everything for us. The least we can give them is a week's worth of meals.

🚨 Project #9 of 25 | Canyon Rim Cares Day of Service – July 18

Are you and your family ready for an emergency? Now's your chance to find out! 🏘️

Sponsored by the Canyon Rim Citizens Association, Project #9 brings hands-on emergency preparedness demonstrations right to our neighborhood β€” plus a special opening of the community emergency supply cache located in the Canyon Rim Park/LDS Stake Center parking lot.

Learn what supplies are available to your community, how to use them, and what steps you can take today to be better prepared for tomorrow. This is one of the most practical and important projects of the day β€” don't miss it!

See you July 18! πŸ’ͺ

🎨 Project #8 of 25 | Canyon Rim Cares Day of Service – July 18 (Even though technically we already announced it)

Something beautiful is coming to Canyon Rim Park! 🌟

Volunteers will help paint a stunning 70-foot mural on the south wall of Canyon Rim Park β€” a permanent piece of community art that will transform a familiar space into something truly special.

When we create together, we deepen our connection to the places we call home. Community art and beautification projects like this one remind us that our neighborhoods reflect who we are β€” and who we aspire to be.

This incredible mural is brought to life by local artists Kate Scribner (.art) and Kristen Voros. We are so grateful for their vision and talent! πŸ–ŒοΈ

Come paint with us on July 18. Leave your mark on Canyon Rim! πŸ’›

🐾 Project #7 of 25 | Canyon Rim Cares Day of Service – July 18

This one's for the animals! 🐢🐱

Our volunteers are showing some serious love for Utah's furry friends by making toys and cozy blankets for dogs and cats in foster care β€” all benefiting the Community Animal Welfare Society (CAWS), Utah's oldest no-kill rescue.

Plus, come find us at the event to shop handmade bracelets and drawings to help raise funds for CAWS! Every purchase makes a difference for an animal waiting for their forever home. πŸ‘πŸ’›
