🐾 A LITTLE SATO HEART 101 🐾

If you’re new here, or you’ve been following us for a while but aren’t quite sure what happens behind the scenes, here’s the short version:

🇵🇷 It starts in Puerto Rico.
Our rescue partner Second Chance Animal Rescue of Puerto Rico works to help dogs who need a second chance.

✈️ Then comes the journey to New Hampshire.
Sato Heart helps bring these dogs to safety here in NH.

🏡 Then comes foster care.
Our foster families give them a safe place to decompress, learn, grow, and get ready for their next chapter.

❤️ And then we find HOME.
The ultimate goal isn’t simply getting a dog out of Puerto Rico.

It’s getting that dog into a family where they can stay forever.

And here’s something important:

Just because we don’t have dogs at the rescue today doesn’t mean the work stops.

We’re still coordinating.
We’re still planning.
We’re still supporting our foster families.
We’re still following up with our adopted dogs.
And we’re still getting ready for the next dogs who need us.

Because rescue isn’t just the moment you see a new dog posted on social media.

It’s everything that happens before and everything that happens after. 🐾

💃 SHE SPINS! 💃😂

After a WEEK of trying to catch it on video, Elle’s foster mom finally got her famous happy spin! 🥹🐶

Apparently, whenever Elle gets excited, especially when it’s mealtime or she knows a walk is coming, she breaks out the spins. And honestly? We are here for it. ❤️

But there’s something even more exciting happening…

Elle is finally starting to show her personality. 🥹

She’s becoming more confident, playful, and comfortable enough to be a little silly and test some boundaries. And you know what? We LOVE seeing it.

After everything Elle has been through, her foster mom says these little moments are a wonderful sign that Elle finally feels secure enough to relax, have some fun, and just be a dog. ❤️

She’s still working on “down” (she’s a little tentative with that one!), but her manners are otherwise fantastic. She sits for her meals, waits before going through doors, and sits patiently while her harness goes on and comes off. 🥰

She also had a vet visit this week. She was understandably nervous, but handled it like a good girl. 🩷

Every week, we see a little more of the real Elle emerging.

The happy spins.
The silliness.
The confidence.
The trust.

She’s learning that it’s safe to be Elle. ❤️

Now we just need to find the person who gets to see those spins every single day. 🏡🐾

📸 A little photo booth magic! 🐾❤️

A few weekends ago, our fundraising event included a photo booth and we are finally getting around to sharing some of the adorable photos! 😍

Just look at these faces! From the pups who clearly understood the assignment to the ones who weren’t quite sure what was happening, we think they’re all pretty darn perfect. 🐶📷

And we want to give a HUGE thank you to Carmen Hazelton for donating her time, talent, and expertise to help support Sato Heart Rescue. ❤️

She generously spent her time capturing these special moments, helping us raise funds for the dogs we bring to New Hampshire, and giving our supporters some wonderful memories to take home.

We are so incredibly grateful for people in our community who use their talents to help rescue dogs. It truly takes a village! 🐾

Now… enjoy the cuteness! 🥰📸

Today is all about celebrating the dogs who make our lives better just by being in them. ❤️

Rescue dogs have a special way of reminding us that every dog deserves a chance to be someone’s beloved best friend.

So let’s celebrate YOUR dogs tonight! 🐶👇

🐾 FROM SATO TO HOME 🐾

You see the happy ending.

A dog curled up on a couch. A family photo. A pup finally knowing what it feels like to be home. ❤️

But every happy ending has a journey.

For our dogs, that journey often begins in Puerto Rico, where our partner Second Chance Animal Rescue of Puerto Rico works tirelessly to help dogs in need.

Then comes the journey to New Hampshire. 🇵🇷➡️🇺🇸

They arrive at Sato Heart, where volunteers help them settle in, get the care they need, and prepare for the next chapter whether that means a foster home or their forever family.

And then comes the part we all love most…

HOME. 🏡❤️

These photos show just a small piece of that journey from Puerto Rico, to Sato Heart here in New Hampshire, and eventually toward the life every dog deserves.

This is why Sato exists.

Not just to find homes for dogs.

But to help them get there. 🐾

One thing you might not know about Elle… 👀🐾

She’s REALLY trainable.

And if you’ve ever thought, “I’d love to rescue a dog, but I don’t want to start completely from scratch with training…” we want you to meet Elle. ❤️

Elle has been putting in the work in her foster home, and she is showing just how much she wants to learn.

In this video, you can see her walking beautifully on leash and working on “heel.” And she’s doing GREAT. Look at that eye contact! 👀🐶

She’s also:
✔️ House trained
✔️ Comfortable in her crate
✔️ Walking beautifully on leash
✔️ Learning heel
✔️ Gaining confidence every week
✔️ Becoming more comfortable with new experiences
✔️ Eager to learn and please

Her foster says she’s becoming much more confident and rarely retreats anymore. She still may be cautious when something is unfamiliar, but she’s handling new experiences better and better.

Elle isn’t waiting for someone to teach her how to be a dog. She’s already showing someone just how much she can learn.

She just needs the right person to continue the journey with her. ❤️

And THIS is where we need your help.

Maybe Elle isn’t the dog for you but maybe she’s exactly the dog someone you know has been looking for.
