Law and Order. PASS partnered with the Milford Fire Department and the Greater Pike Community Foundation to host another Autism First Responder Training.

PASS (Pike Autism Support Services) partnered with the Milford Fire Department and the Greater Pike Community Foundation to host another Autism First Responder Training. The presentation was delivered by First Due Autism Training, who did an excellent job explaining how to identify individuals with ASD, address sensory issues, anticipate possible behaviors, and address communication challenges in emergency situations. The Milford Police, Pike County Sheriff’s, Milford FD, Matamoras FD, Wayne County Emergency Management, Port Jervis and Newton EMS, and Delaware Valley Emergency Services were represented. Thanks to a grant from The Greater Pike Community Foundation, PASS provided all attendees with a sensory bag containing items that might help individuals experiencing overstimulation or anxiety during an emergency.

SWIM CAMP FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

iCan Shine is a non-profit organization that provides recreational programs for individuals with disabilities. Our iCan Swim program focuses on helping each participant age 3 and older work toward their individual aquatic goals. We work on learning new swim skills, improving existing skills with a daily emphasis on life-saving water safety skills in and around aquatic environments. This five-day camp, requiring swimmers to attend only one 45-minute or 60-minute session per day depending on age, is taking place June 8th-12th at the Delaware Valley High School Pool, 256 US-6, Milford, PA 18337.

iCan Shine collaborates with local organizations to host five-day camps in their communities. This camp is being hosted by Pike Autism Support Services of NEPA, Inc.

To be eligible to enroll, swimmers must: be at least three years old and have a disability. All abilities are welcome however individuals with a tracheostomy are not eligible to participate as we are unable to guarantee a splash-free environment.
