Sometimes loving a horse means listening to what she needs next.

Winnie has returned home to her previous owner, Liz, someone who knows her, loves her, and can give her the individual attention she deserves in retirement.

During her time with GAIT, Winnie was part of many quiet, meaningful moments that most of us may never have seen. Time and again, she opened her heart to Children & Youth Services participants who needed a pony just like her to help break down barriers during Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy sessions.

She had a special way of meeting people where they were, and her impact here will stay with us.

We are so grateful for the time Winnie gave to GAIT and so happy to know she is home, loved, and beginning this next chapter with Liz. Thank you, Winnie.

Interested in expanding your work with horses into the mental health and learning field?

GAIT Equine Assisted Services will host a PATH Intl. ESMHL Workshop October 19th - 21st, 2026, in Milford, PA.

This hands-on, in-person workshop is designed for professionals interested in Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning certification and the meaningful work of partnering with licensed mental-health professionals and educators through unmounted equine-assisted activities.

Whether your passion is serving veterans, at-risk youth, individuals with disabilities, or members of your community seeking connection and healing, this training may be the next step in your journey.

A huge thank-you to the Greater Pike Community Foundation and the Richard L. Snyder Grant for the $4,500 that made two new hay feeders possible for GAIT!

Additional support from the Milford-Matamoras Rotary International Club’s Ridley Run and a couple community car washes with the support of the United Way, all helped cover the remaining cost. These feeders keep hay cleaner, reduce waste, and make daily feeding safer and more efficient for the people caring for our herd.

Our horses give so much to the children, veterans, and families who come to GAIT. We are so grateful to everyone who helped give back to them. 💙🐴

❤️ THANK YOU, DELAWARE VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL! ❤️

A huge thank you to the amazing Delaware Valley High School students who gave up part of their Saturday to support GAIT at our car wash!

Together, they helped raise an incredible $855, enough to cover nearly HALF of our upcoming hay order for the GAIT herd! 🐴🌾

We are so grateful for their hard work, energy, laughter, and willingness to jump in and help. This is what community looks like, young people showing up, working hard, and making a very real difference for a local nonprofit.

To every student who washed, scrubbed, sprayed, dried, held signs, and helped make the day such a success: THANK YOU! ❤️

And thank you to everyone who stopped by, had their car washed, made a donation, or simply cheered them on. Every dollar raised goes directly toward helping us care for the horses who make GAIT's programs possible.

Today’s the day. DV kids and United Way are up bright and early to help raise funds for our incredible herd! Come out to the Milford municipal building today, 10am to 3pm and get your cars and trucks washed for our cause!

Wash Rinse and Repeat. If you missed your chance for a clean car last time, here's another chance. Funds raised support GAIT's equine programs for children and adults with physical, cognitive, emotional, mental, and behavioral challenges, improving their lives with the help of an amazing herd of horses.

❤️ Man, are we going to miss this crew.

One of the coolest things about our summer Workforce Alliance program is getting to see the full circle.

For these young people, GAIT is their very first job. They arrived not quite knowing what to expect and spent the summer learning how to show up, work as a team, care for horses, take responsibility, tackle projects, and figure out where they fit.

And then there were the familiar faces—Workforce kids from previous summers who went off to college and came home to work at GAIT again. ❤️

That might be my favorite part.

Watching someone start here as a teenager in their first work experience and then seeing them come back older, more confident, more capable, and ready to help teach the next group is pretty special.

This crew did EVERYTHING, horse care, grooming, tack cleaning and organizing, barn projects, events, cleaning, moving things, grounds work, and whatever random project we managed to dream up that day. 😂 They worked alongside our staff, volunteers, participants and veterans, and somewhere along the way they stopped feeling like a summer workforce team and simply became part of GAIT.

The work they accomplished mattered, but watching them grow mattered even more.

To our first-year crew: we hope this was the beginning of something great.

To the ones who came back to us: thank you for coming home. ❤️

And to all of you—thank you for giving GAIT your summer. You left this place better than you found it, and it is going to be way too quiet without you.

Don’t be strangers. Once you’re part of the GAIT family, you’re kind of stuck with us. ❤️🐴
