Who can apply for a Bright Futures grant? More people than you might think:
• Licensed child care centers serving Grant County
• Licensed family and group daycares
• In-home providers who operate legally without a license (no state license or registration needed to apply)
• People with a real plan to open a child care business in Grant County
• Employers or community groups partnering to create child care spots, at the committee's discretion

Here’s a bright spot worth celebrating: Superintendent Justin Downes recently stated that Milbank School District’s fall enrollment is above last year’s count—and above this year’s budget projection.

Behind that growth are students, families, and new connections. Strong schools, housing opportunities, and local businesses all matter when families choose where to put down roots.

That's why GCDC created the Bright Futures Fund. It gives grants to child care providers serving Grant County so they can open, add spots and improve their programs.

Thank you to the Grant County Commission for increasing its 2027 investment in GCDC from $31,000 to $50,000.

That additional $19,000 strengthens our capacity to support economic development and pursue opportunities for Grant County. We appreciate the commissioners’ confidence in this work and the community’s investment in its future.
