We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Mr Richard Weiler, former Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 16 and Adult Scouter in Pack 43. He volunteered for many years in Scouting, beginning as a Cub Scout leader and eventually advancing to work with Boy Scout Troops. Throughout that time, he mentored and guided numerous young men, including his two sons, on their journey to earning the prestigious Eagle Scout rank; an achievement attained by only a small percentage of Scouts. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. He will always be remembered as a valued member of our Scouting family.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Mr Richard Chabak, former Adult Scouter in Troop 16 for over 25 years. His dedication to Troop 16 in Middletown and to the Scouts he mentored made a lasting difference in so many young lives. He gave generously of his time, wisdom, and steady leadership. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. He will always be remembered as a valued member of our Scouting family.

Tonight only - the Troop 16 Annual Ham Dinner from 5:00 to 7:00 at the 3rd Congregational Church. Great meal served by Scouts!

The Annual Troop 16 Ham Dinner is this coming weekend, Saturday, 17 January 2026, serving from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the 3rd Congregational Church, 94 Miner Street, Middletown. It is a sit-down meal (served by our Scouts), but we still have the option for Grab-and-Go/Take-Out meals.

The cost of the dinner is $15 for adults and $12 for Children (12 and under). Each meal comes with ham, potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, green beans, dinner roll, butter, and dessert. Drinks and coffee & tea for those sitting down for dinner. For those who are taking advantage of the Grab-and-Go/Take-Out option, the meal will be in a clamshell along with utensils.

We have set up a website to take/receive advance orders. People can choose a meal and a time to pick-up their meals. Here is the on-line link: https://troop16-ct.square.site/. Meals can also be purchased at the door.

Cub Scout Pack 43 of Middletown will hold a Bottle Drive on Saturday, 3 January 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Third Congregational Church of Middletown, 94 Miner Street, Middletown.

This is a great way to support Pack 43 and to get rid of all those bottles and cans that you have accumulated over the holidays. If you have any recyclable bottles or cans, please consider bringing them to the parking lot at the 3rd Congregational Church on Saturday, 3 January 2026.

The Bottle Drive is one of the bigger fund raisers for the Pack. Pack 43 is the primary feeder unit for Troop 16 and supporting their efforts is important for the success of Troop 16.

Earlier today, Troop 16 went to the Fire Museum in Manchester. Chief James Brown gave our Scouts an awes tour of the museum and led our Scouts to earn the Fire Safety Merit Badge. He also arranged for a tour of Station 2 of the Manchester Fire Department. It was a great day!
