Beau Update:

Well… we are NIH bound this morning until this Friday. Beau in good spirits despite of knowing he is going to have a hospital stay this week.

He had a wonderful weekend with his best buddy Carter at the Kids Catch All Tournament with his amazing dad Captain Nick Sampson that was a wonderful distraction to what this week will hold.

The NIH has been wonderful to work with so far. This has been unlike anything we have experienced in the medical community thus far. They have been very attentive and made Beau and how HE medically presents their primary concerns and not forcing text book definitions and opinions on us. At the NIH, they know that when someone is coming to them, they do not fit the molds that people are shoved into. Beau will be having almost 6 months worth of testing and consults in a matter of 3.5 days.

This momma is very nervous, definitely some PTSD, from past experiences and praying that I can keep my walls down, as I know that they truly want to help Beau and our family learn more about him and how we can support him.

I truly believe, God has made me a nurse just for my children and family. If I can share anything with you to take away from our experience, ADVOCATE. If you feel for a moment that something is off… don’t stop until you get answers.

It has taken us almost 11 years to get this close to answers for our Bubba. I am sure there are a few items we could have been able to prevent or possibly different outcomes if they would have just listened to me earlier on… but, God has a plan and EVERYTHING happens for a reason.

We can not change the past, but I for sure will ALWAYS follow my momma’s gut and the knowledge that God has given me from my professional training, as well. According to my son’s medical records, I am a bit of monster of a mother and resistant to medical advice. I’ll suppose I will take it if it means that we got what Beau what needed at the end of the day.

I am very hopeful that this AMAZING, INCREDIBLE, RARE boy has a productive week at the NIH and that we are a few steps closer to understanding him medically speaking.

I am sure this is why God has made me a nurse, not to mention our Harley girl has also given us a run for our money at times medically speaking too. Lol 😂 I think she was the intro to what we were in store for with our buddy boy. LOL We could not ask for a better big sister to for our guy to love and support him.

Asking for prayers for patience, courage and peace for us all this week, especially for Beau, as he has been incredibly patient and brave for all of his almost 12 years on this earth.

Thanks and will update as the week progresses.

Just a little update on our little man of honor Beau!

To say the last few days/weeks/months have been a whirl wind is an understatement!

Beau has been complaining of leg hip and knee pain sense January 13! It was finally on March 4 that one of the doctors finally did some imaging! Beau is a little complicated because when he is sick, he gets a significant amount of leg pain and he did get sick in the course of all of this, but this time was very different.

My momma gut new something more was wrong and kept pushing them to please listen!

It was discovered that he has a very serious orthopedic condition called SCFE that required emergency surgery.

We decided to go to John Hopkins as we have not been having a lot of luck at CHOP or and experiences at Hershey in the past have been challenging as well.

The medical teams at Hopkins were wonderful as well as the hospital and the nursing staff. They took great care of our guy and he’s now back home and resting. He will be in a wheelchair for the next 6 to 8 weeks. We are going to do everything we can to keep him in the great spirits that he’s been in spite of all of this happening so quickly.

We are still searching for the right care team for Beau and just know that God is leading the way.

Regarding the toy drive, with your continued support, we know this years you drive is going to be even more epic than last year! Please share this page to spread the word about Beau’s Toy Drive for Kids in the Hospital Over the Holidays! I’m hoping we can get even more followers!

Thank you for all of the love and support for Beau’s mission to keep the kids busy and happy in the hospital.

Beau would like to wish you all a very Happy and prosperous New Year!

Beau Sampson / QPCS Toy Drive for kids in the hospital over the holidays.

We hope you can help us reach our gift giving goals!

My son, Beau Sampson is 11 years old and is what doctors like to call a medical zebra. He has had many crazy medical situations occur and has been in and out of the hospital since he was a year and a half old.

In 2018, Beau was very ill and spent many days in the hospital that year and was in the week of Christmas. Fortunately, we were able to be home by Christmas.

He asked me, "Mommy, does Santa visit the children in the hospital too?" We discussed that Santa always does his best to find boys and girls no matter where they are. Of course, as a mother this melted my heart, that as sick as he was, his love for others shined through. Beau decided he wanted to find a way to give to the boys and girls that will be in the hospital over the holiday.

We held our first toy drive in 2018 and raised just over $500.00. All toys were donated to UPMC Hospital in Harrisburg. This year we have reached out to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and Hershey Medical Center to see if they would be willing to accept the toys. Hershey Medical Center will accept the toys and we are awaiting a response from CHOP. We are hoping that we are able to obtain enough toys to be able to deliver toys to both hospitals.

This year, I am inviting you all to consider in participating by making a donation of any size via CashApp or Venmo.

CashApp: $QPCS
Venmo:

QPCS will match dollar for dollar collected.

Beau will then go on a toy buying and delivering adventure for the boys and girls!

One of the mantras in the Sampson house hold is to help someone today and pay it forward and that's just what we intend on doing!

We celebrate Christmas in our house; however, the toys will go to any boy or girl no matter their religious beliefs to shower them with love no matter their culture or beliefs.

IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR!
