Miami keeps rolling out the red carpet for billionaires while pricing out the people who built this city. And we need to talk about it.

Our Executive Director, Valencia “Vee” Gunder, has some thoughts about Miami-Dade's priorities and where our public dollars are going.

In her latest opinion piece for the Miami Herald, Vee breaks down how development, rising housing costs, and decades of disinvestment continue to impact Black and working-class communities across Miami-Dade.

Heat Check Recap ☀️

We were proud to welcome 30+ community members from the City of Opa-locka for a conversation on extreme heat, why it’s happening, how it impacts our communities, and ways to stay safe.

Together, we also distributed 50+ cooling kits to help our neighbors stay prepared. ✅

We distributed over 200+ cooling kits and hurricane supplies while sharing food, music, and revolutionary care.

Last week, The Black Collective joined community members at the Miami-Dade Housing Committee meeting to raise concerns about the housing crisis, displacement, and the rising cost of living.

Residents made it clear: Miami must work for the people who call it home not push them out.

Yesterday, The Black Collective stood with community members and local businesses at a press conference demanding accountability from our city leaders. 🔥

Our communities deserve leaders who work alongside the people not developers looking to profit at our expense. We will continue organizing and fighting for policies that put residents first.💯
