22 years ago! Miami Classical Guitar Society produced the 2002 Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) International Convention & Competition, directed by Maestro Carlos Molina 🪅

"Sun Waves Guitar Fest" - 2002 Guitar Foundation of America's 30th Anniversary International Convention & Competition, directed by Carlos Molina, produced and presented by The Miami Classical Guitar Society, and hosted by Miami Dade College, Wolfson Campus - October 15-20, 2002.

This memorable festival featured Concerts by renowned guitarists, Lectures by specialists, Masterclasses, an International Guitar Competition, a Vendor’s Exhibit, an Art Gallery Exhibition, an Opening Gala/fiesta with popular guitar music, and even a Boat Tour through the Miami Bay. It was attended by 317 guitarists who came from around the world, professors and aficionados, in addition to our FL audience who packed the theater and events throughout the week-long festival. It also celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the GFA. A truly spectacular gathering!

🟣 Excited to present our next Concert of the 2022 Season - this Saturday, June 18th, 2022 - 8pm! Featuring French classical guitarist, François-Xavier Dangremont!

1st Prize Winner of the Coria 2018 international Concert Competition (Spain), Dangremont's program will include works by Llobet, Giuliani, Aguado, and others.

François-Xavier Dangremont began playing guitar at age 10 at the Le Mans Conservatory in Brigitte Palisson's class, with whom he obtained his Diplôme d'étude musicale (DEM). After having followed a specialized course with Tania Chagnot at Hay-les-Roses, he entered Judicael Perroy's class at the pôle d'enseignement supérieur de Lille (ESMD). In 2017, he obtained his diplomas in musicology, performance (DNSPM) and pedagogy (DE). He now teaches at the Conservatoire de Grenoble.

Dangremont is a Winner of several international competitions, including: 1st prize at the Carry-le-Rouet 2017 international competition (France), 1st prize at the Coria 2018 international concert (Spain), 2nd prize at the Amarante 2018 international competition (Portugal), 2nd prize at the Vienna international competition (Austria), 3rd prize at the Koblenz international competition (Germany), and also 2nd prize at the Alberto Ponce international competition (France).

Hello Friends! We are happy to announce a new Concert for 2022!

Isaac Bustos in Concert - Saturday, April 30th, 7:30pm

The Miami Classical Guitar Society is proud to present, Nicaraguan/American Classical guitarist, pedagogue and educator, Dr. Isaac Bustos in Concert - Saturday, April 30th, 7:30 pm.

The program will include works by Piazzolla, Villa-Lobos, Albeniz, Rodrigo, “Nico” Rojas and others.

Dr. Bustos, originally from Nicaragua, has acquired top prizes in over 12 major international competitions, 7 of which are first prizes. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in guitar performance from the University of New Hampshire, a Master of Music degree and Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin where he worked under the guidance of world-renowned American guitarist Adam Holzman. Previously, he was a student of guitarist Carlos Molina at Miami -Dade College.

As an educator, Dr. Bustos is currently the head of guitar studies at University of Texas San Antonio Dept of Music, and artistic director of the Southwest Guitar Symposium and Competition.

This Saturday, May 29th, we are celebrating 50 years of Maestro CARLOS MOLINA’s professional guitar career since wining First Prize at the National Guitar Competition in Cuba in 1970.

The celebration concert will feature Miami Guitar Orchestra, directed by Molina, as well as Soprano Marisa Molina and Carlos Molina.

Concert - Saturday, May 29th - 5pm

Concert will follow all COVID guidelines.
