TRAINED SHEPHERD AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - MIAMI, FL

Pheonix is a 72lb, adult female dutch shepehrd mix, aprx 2-3yrs old. And yes, she's as stunning in real life as she is in the black and white photo we posted of her on our petfinder page. Yet, no one has applied for her. Not a single applicaiton!

She came to us as a stray from the redlands (Miami farm area) where she had just had a litter of puppies. Sadly, the puppies were stillborn and Pheonix was left confused and disoriented. It took her several months to feel like herself again. Although she does not enjoy the companionship of other dogs (at all!), she is the absolute sweetest girl with every person she meets.

For a shepherd, she is extreemly affectionate towards strangers. She will come right up to you and ask for pets. She'll look into your eyes sweetly. This is definitely a dog that looks intimidating but is far from a security or guard dog.

She's a low energy dog who will do best in a quiet home. Again, she must be the only dog. Absolutely not cats as she does have a high prey drive for small animals (as many of these types of dogs do).

A 1st floor exit or single family home is a must so that she doesnt have to deal with dogs in passing. In our program she's learned to be quiet and neutral around other dogs in close proximity, but absolutely does not want to be around other dogs in an off leash setting.

She's gentle, sweet. We feel she could absolutely live with children 8+. And her obedience is phenominal!

Pheonix hopes you had a very Happy Easter, and is praying for a family of her own. She's fully trained, and ready to go home.

We allow "pawventure" days with our dogs so you can get to know them.

To apply for Pheonix, visit www.magiccityk9.org. Then, you'll get invited to one of our upcoming adopter interviews so we can answer all your quesitons about our dogs, and our program.

🌟 Celebrating a Milestone in Our Program! 🌟

We are thrilled to announce that our dedicated inmates have made history as the first incarcerated individuals to earn their CPR certifications through the Pet Tech program! 🐾❤️

What is Pet CPR Certification?

Pet CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) certification equips individuals with the essential skills to respond effectively in emergencies involving pets. This training covers life-saving techniques such as how to perform CPR on dogs and cats, manage choking incidents, and recognize the signs of critical health issues in pets. With this knowledge, our participants can ensure the safety and well-being of their furry companions, making a significant impact in their lives and the lives of pet owners in the community.

Why Are Programs Like This So Meaningful?

Engaging in a prison dog training program offers inmates an invaluable opportunity for personal growth and rehabilitation. Here are just a few reasons why these programs are so impactful:

1 Skill Development: Earning certifications like Pet CPR not only enhances job prospects post-release but also instills a sense of accomplishment and pride in the participants.

2 Emotional Healing: Working with animals fosters empathy, compassion, and emotional connection, helping inmates process their own experiences and build healthier relationships.

3 Community Contribution: By learning to care for and train dogs, inmates contribute to the well-being of both animals and potential adopters, creating a positive ripple effect in the community.

4 Building Trust and Responsibility: Caring for dogs teaches responsibility and accountability, fundamental qualities that can lead to successful reintegration into society.

We are incredibly proud of our participants for achieving this certification and for their commitment to personal growth through our dog training program.

This milestone not only marks a personal achievement but also highlights the transformative power of second chances.

Together, we can continue to promote rehabilitation, compassion, and a brighter future for both inmates and the animals they serve! 🐶✨

Thank you to our private donors and founadation gifts that made this investment in our men possible.

Shania - TRAINED POODLE PUPPY in Miami, FL.

That's right, someone tag in the poodle people so we can get our GORGEOUS, sweet and playful girl into her forever home.

Meet Shania. She's a 7 month old standard poodle puppy currently weighing 30lbs (as of 3/8/26).

She joined our program when she was 5 months old. She was found as a stray in Miami, abosolutely filthy and underweight, eye infections -- wasn't in good shape.

We nursed her back to health and now she is a happy, bouncy, energetic poodle pup. We had her groomed like a poodle, although our groomer suspects she could be a mix, its hard to say without a DNA test! You can trim up her hair however you want her to look.

She'll require an active home and someone who can keep up with her smarts. She is still very mouthy, so kids over 5 would be best.

Shania is ALL love, and will be ready to join your home on or after March 20th.

To apply, go to www.magiccityk9.org.

Shania's adoption fee is $850, which includes her spay, all her vaccines and her 3 months of obedience training.

Some people may say "wow that's a high adoption fee."

Have you seen the cost of dog training? Our fee is nothing compared to what it would cost you to have this dog privately trained to a comparable level. PLUS, our adoption fees support our vocational program as a whole -- we're not your average dog rescue. We're a people rescue, that happens to adopt out dogs ;) Hehe.

Her inmate trainer Jimmy is one of our best! He's been in our program for several years and has always had great reviews from his dog's adopters. Shania and Jimmy are a winning combo for sure.

Iff you've never owned a poodle, please understand that there is a significant financial investment or time investment in ensuring these guys are brusehd daily and groomed regularly. If you don't have an extra $250/mo to spend on grooming, or you don't already know how to groom dogs yourself, owning a poodle may be too much maintaince for you!

This dog is currently participating in our prison dog training program in Miami, Florida.

Our dogs become available for adoption upon completion of their training program where they meet all the criteria to pass the following AKC certifications:

1. AKC (American Kennel Club) Canine Good Citizen (CGC)
2. AKC CGC-Advanced
3. AKC Trick Dog Novice

Go ahead, google all that :)

For more information about each of our dogs and our program send us a text to (305) 842-3974 or fill out an application on our website. Once we receive your application, you'll be invited to a zoom interview.

2 of our 3 gorgeous little aussie mix pups have already found their forever homes.

Who wants to take home Nacho!? He's currently 11 weeks old and is getting trained up FAST! Such a smart puppy ready to steal your heart and make someone a loyal family companion. In the photo, he's the middle puppy.

His markings are absolutely stunning! Two blue eyes and so much patchwork. His mom was a GSD/Aussie Mix, and his dad a husky. We know this 100% because we know exactly where these pups came from (north georgia mountains!).

Even though his sisters have prick ears, Nacho's ears are floppy.

In this photo our lead trainer Chris has all his students undivided attention despite other inmates and dogs walkign around nearby. These little pups have definitely stolen the heart of the entire prison compound ❤

Nacho does already show strong herding tendencies, so please be familiar with the breed traits for Australian Shepherd and German Shepherds before applying for Nacho.

Ok brace yourself.... these 9 week old puppies are seriously THE cutest thing you've ever seen.

From left to right: Frida, Salsa, Nacho

The parents are known. Mom is a GSD/Aussie and Dad is a Husky. These will be large breed, active dogs. They will require a home with a yard, or an active adopter committed to lots of outdoor time + park trips. Adopters must be prepared to welcome home an energetic puppy. Our trainers will have already done the hardest part for you (getting on a good potty schedule!), but you've got to be able to keep it up.

Adoption fee $650

They'll have foundation obedience training, be crate trained and well socialized to dogs and people by the time they finish their training program with us at 12 weeks old.

Adoption fee covers first 2 sets of vaccines + their sterlization (spay/neuter).

Application availabe at www.magiccityk9.org

What could be better than to adopt a trained puppy!!

Jagger "Jag" has been waiting 1.5yrs with zero interest 😢🐾💔

We brought Jag into our organization as a six month old puppy! We thought surely he would get adopted quickly because of his super cute ears, and how young he was. But one training cycle came and went, then two training cycles, then three training cycles — nobody applied for Jag.

Like Nasa and Bimini, who were recently adopted after both waiting 2 long years with our organization, it’s time that Jag finds his forever family. Because his inmate trainer has been moved to work release and Jag feels lost without the only person he’s ever known and loved, we’ve moved him from the prison and he’s now in a boarding and daycare environment. He’s safe, but deserves a home where he can be loved again like he was loved by his trainer (Ravi).

Jag’s ideal home:

🐾 A single person who doesn’t mind a quiet dog

🐾 Access to playtime with other dogs since he’s highly dog social

🐾 Home with a fenced yard, or a quiet apartment complex

Jag is:

✅ Super dog playful, enjoys dog park

✅ Shy. Bonds deeply with one person, then ignores everyone else

✅ Great on the leash

✅ Down for adventures anywhere! Will ignore everyone and everything. He’s totally into his person.

✅ 2yrs old, 58lb, male, neutered, airplane ears

❌ No high-rises (too busy
❌ No small kids (too chaotic)
❌ No cats (unknown)

Adoption fee $250
UTD on vaccines, Microchipped

Meet Hank ❤️🐾🐶 we don’t anticipate him to be larger than 50 pounds at full growth. He is currently five months old.

We brought this little boy in with his 2 siblings when they were barely 8 weeks old.

Now he’s trained up and is ready to make the perfect family companion.

He’s gentle and laid back. Quiet and calm. Such a sweet boy. He will literally sit on your lap and just hang out with you if you let him. Hes always been my fav pup of the 3 (one has already been adopted).

I chose the name Hank because of a book series that I love growing up as a kid: Hank the Cowdog.

What the series is about?

The stories are told from the point of view of Hank, a confident, well-meaning ranch dog who believes he is the Head of Ranch Security. Hank lives on a Texas cattle ranch and narrates his daily adventures—protecting livestock, solving “mysteries,” dealing with predators, and navigating the rhythms of ranch life.

Told entirely through Hank’s perspective, the books follow his attempts to do the right thing, even when his understanding of situations is a bit off. His strong sense of duty, imagination, and loyalty drive each story forward.

Overall, Hank the Cowdog appealed to me as a kid who loves animals because it invited me into the world through the eyes of a dog who felt real, earnest, and deeply lovable. 🐾

I hope you love this color pencil sketch of my favorite little boy in our program — adopt Hank!

Who doesn’t love a good black-and-white 🖤🤍🐾

Forrest - 1yr old 95lb male Rottweiler. He was adopted out and sadly returned to us when the woman of the house couldn’t get past the dog hair (yes this is the kind of BS We have to deal with in our line of work!). Forest is cat & dog friendly. His ideal home is someone with guardian breed experience. He is assertive and powerful, intelligent and active. Extremely obedient with an experienced handler.

W***y - 85lb american bulldog. He is probably between three and four years old if we had to guess. W***y is one of our longest stay residents, who hit his year with us this past October. He is gentle, quiet, and very sweet. He has an old hip/leg injury that requires him to have a single story home. It does not keep him from running and playing with his dog friends, but stairs will agitate the injury. W***y is couch potato energy most days. His ideal home is with anyone who has lots of love to give.

Dixie - 65 pound female hound mix. She’s one of our new program dogs, friendly as heck as most hounds are and we’re super excited to see how this girl develops! Her big floppy ears are to die for.

Fancy (adopted) - female Pomsky. Found as a stray in the Redlands. We glamed her up and put some awesome training on her and she is super excited to be moving into her new home when she graduates this February! She’s one of the smaller dogs in our program. So stunning and soft! She’s a showstopper.

For more information about our available dogs be sure to visit our website www.magiccityk9.org

Our adoption fees range from $425-$850.

Our dogs come with 12 to 16 weeks of training, unless you’re W***y in which case he comes with 15 MONTHS of training!!! we won’t even tell you how much that would’ve cost you in the real world had you hired a private Dog Trainer to give a dog that much training.

Our adoption fees are a steal when you consider the cost of training a dog 💰💰

All of our dogs are spayed or neutered before adoption and are up-to-date on vaccines.

We adopt most of our dogs in Florida, but will consider out of state applications for our longer stay dogs.
