🌿 Southwest Florida educators gathered for an Everglades Champion Schools work session, starting their applications for the school year. Then they joined a kayaking adventure on Little Sarasota Bay, where along the way, teachers experienced the beauty of Florida’s coastal ecosystems by kayaking and dip-netting, and even spotted incredible wildlife, including dolphins, Osprey, Anhingas, Brown Pelicans, Cormorants, and more.

Thank you Big Waters Land Trust for hosting our session and for helping teachers explore their environment.

Our virtual classroom presentations are kicking off next week! 🌿💻 We have ten virtual presentations scheduled for the upcoming school year.

Join us as we take K-2 students on an exciting journey through the Everglades ecosystem. Young learners will discover the plants, animals, and habitats that make this unique wetland so special while exploring why the Everglades matter to all Floridians.

🌿 👣 💧Champion Schools teachers from the Treasure Coast stepped off the boardwalk and into the swamp at Grassy Waters Preserve, where they hiked a wet and rugged trail while exploring the rich history and unique ecology of this remarkable wetland. Teachers also worked on their Champion School applications for the school year, setting up a strong start for Everglades education this school year.

🌿 Southwest Florida teachers stepped into waist-high waters of the Everglades as they kicked off their Everglades Champion Schools journey with a ranger-guided swamp walk at Big Cypress National Preserve. Thank you for joining us to start your Champion School applications and plan for the school year.

🌿 South Florida lead teachers spearheading the Everglades Champion Schools Program at their school joined us at their regional kickoffs to plan for the year. During our visit to Deering Estate, staff led us on an immersive tour of the grounds. Teachers then engaged in an ethnobotany activity where they investigated native plants and discovered how these plants have been used by people for food, medicine, tools, and other purposes over time.
