This week is , celebrating youth partnering with adults to identify local environmental issues and take action by advocating for system changes. We celebrated The Freedom Institute of Collier County with their American alligator student ambassador coins and certificates! ๐Ÿ†

Freedom Institute students, guided by Champions in Action teacher Briana Chieco, are focusing on water quality after discovering an important gap: while fertilizers are banned during the summer, pesticides are not. Theyโ€™re now working with two HOA communities to reduce summer pesticide use by presenting to HOA boards, encouraging HOA wide policy change, inviting residents to take a pledge to go pesticide free, and creating neighborhood signage to spread awareness.
