During their annual Everglades Week, Parkside Elementary students turned learning into action. Through fundraising and wildlife awareness activities, they raised enough money to help tag a swallow-tailed kite and most recently support the tracking of a loggerhead sea turtle, helping researchers learn more about these iconic Florida species and the habitats they call home. 🌿

We can't wait to see your Everglades week in action this school year!

The Everglades Teacher Symposium also included a day of field trips for dozens of teachers to experience learning out in the Everglades ecosystem! Thank you to these vendors for providing amazing experiences for teachers to kick off the event.

Educators hiked a wet and rugged swamp trail at Grassy Waters Preserve to learn about this vital wetland system, went seining in the northern Lake Worth Lagoon with Palm Beach County Department of Environmental Resources Management, and explored Florida's varied habitats with animal ambassadors along the nature trail at Busch Wildlife Sanctuary. πŸŒΏπŸΎπŸ’™
