During the first week of school, our 5th graders were already actively problem-solving and collaborating in math class thanks to the new Building Thinking Classrooms portable, vertical white boards. Thanks to Ms. Meyer, Ms. Cecchine, and Dr. Vorensky for thinking ahead and applying for an MEF grant last spring for these learning tools for the “New Campbell!”

💡Check this out!💡 Last spring, Mrs. Sanchez and Mrs. Valovcin thought ahead to the needs of the “New Moss” and wrote a grant asking for “Fun with Phonemic Awareness” toolkits for EVERY K-2nd grade classroom. These toolkits expanded upon a very successful 2021 MEF grant where similar toolkits were purchased for the preschool classrooms. We’re excited to share that it’s only the first week of school at the “New Moss” and these toolkits are already making learning multi-sensory and fun for ALL of our youngest learners! 👏

For our eleventh grant of the year, we are thrilled to fund a new drumline for The Pride of Metuchen Marching Band. These modern and matching marching battery percussion instruments will support correct technique, musical precision, physical safety, and performance confidence, while also enhancing school pride and community engagement by strengthening the quality of performances at games, parades, competitions, and community events. We know that a strong, well-equipped marching percussion section elevates the overall performance of The Pride of Metuchen and reinforces Metuchen High School’s reputation while fostering a shared sense of pride among students, families, and the broader community. Thank you to Band Director, Mr. John Messenger, for dreaming up this idea and Principal Porowski for supporting it! We can’t wait to hear the heartbeat of the Pride beating on these new instruments next year! 🥁
