JoyFest - a tornado of love

JoyFest - a tornado of love JoyFest is a special fundraiser and event for family impacted by the Arabi, Louisiana, tornado. The house was co-owned by Joy's daughter Jill and son Craig.

A special fundraiser for family impacted by the Arabi, Louisiana, tornado. On March 22nd, a devastating tornado ripped through historic Arabi, Louisiana. Eighty-year-old Joy Alexander somehow escaped the rubble of her home through a window in the darkness -- only minutes after the structure was lifted from its foundation and dropped to the ground. Jill lived on the other side of the recently renov

ated shotgun double and was fortunately not yet home that evening when the tornado struck. In addition to the destruction of their home, Joy's car was violently flipped upside down. Both the crumbled remains of their house and Joy's car were featured in news feeds throughout the country.

'JoyFest - a tornado of love' is a special fundraiser given by family and friends to help Joy, Jill, and Craig cope with their displacement and loss of property while struggling to get their lives back together. A JoyFest event will take place on Sunday, April 24th, from 12:30 PM till, at Causeway Bar & Grill (owned by life-long friends in Metairie, LA). For a minimum donation of $20, JoyFesters can enjoy music by Dead End and Ukulele Jake while helping to support this important cause. T-shirts commemorating the fundraiser will also be available for a $20 donation. Please consider supporting this wonderful cause by donating through:

1) GoFundMe at: https://gofund.me/51449421
2) Venmo Joy Alexander directly at: , enter 4561.
3) Check written out to 'Old Metairie Irish Festival' presented at the event (write 'JoyFest' in the note)

Our hearts are full today.

Because of the incredible generosity of 841 UNIQUE DONORS during GiveNOLA Day, Team Gleason raised an amazing $115,409 to continue helping individuals and families battling ALS across the country. Thank you to every friend, family member, and supporter who donated, shared posts, encouraged others to give, and helped support this very personal cause.

When everybody's cousin, John “Al” Pittman, was diagnosed with ALS, Team Gleason stepped in with compassion, support, and resources during one of the most difficult times our family has ever faced. That’s why this mission means so much to me. Every dollar raised helps provide equipment, technology, advocacy, and hope to families facing ALS nationwide.

Thank you also to the Greater New Orleans Foundation for continuing to make GiveNOLA Day such a powerful force for nonprofits throughout our region year after year. This community truly shows what is possible when people come together to help others.

If you or someone you know needs support while facing ALS, visit Team Gleason's website: https://teamgleason.org/
